Greetings All...
I was laid off at the end of last March when my section closed, after working at a famous research facility here in Japan for the last thirteen years. Now it looks like I have a very good shot at landing a sysadmin job in the Netherlands.
I was wondering if there were any Amiga users or groups in the NL, especially around Utrecht.
I don't know much about the Netherlands, never having been there, so any advice about moving or living there would be most appreciated. (ex decent salary, housing costs, taxes, cheese, socks, good bheer, banana trees, etc)

While we are waiting for someone from the Netherlands to respond I thought i'd ask why you would want to move from Japan?

I wouldn't want to live in Japan. I would die from overeating.

Sorry to hear you lose your job :\. Seems to be happening all over the place now. I've just moved to Hilversum, close to Utrecht, since I found a job as sys admin in Amsterdam. My A4000 is still in a box in storage, my 'house' is way too small.
I don't really know much about any active user groups in these parts. There's the HCC and it's C= subgroup which seems to be active to a certain point.

Well, a brave person you are to land over here in the Netherlands. Drop a line on the dutch Amiga-related site http://www.amigascene.nl . They should be able to connect you with Amiga user-groups.
It seems that the Commodore user-group of the dutch Hobby Computer Club is rather busy. They are not only focussed on C64, Pet and other Commodore classics, they like Amigas as well.

First off, sorry to hear you got laid off, always nasty when that happens!
There is quite an active Amiga community in the Netherlands. I myself don't live far from Utrecht. But let's be fair, the Netherlands is such a small country almost anyone lives close to Utrecht.
As mentioned before, HCC (Hobby Computer Club) has a Commodore section which hosts regular meetings (once every two months aprox.) in Maarssen, which itself is really close to Utrecht. Dutch users can indeed be found at the website http://www.amigascene.nl, or here at amiga.org.
If there's info you need, just shoot.
