Title: 7-Zip for AmigaOS Updated!
Post by: dcr8520 on February 18, 2009, 12:03:29 AM
7-Zip is a file archiver with the highest compression ratio.

The program supports 7z (that implements LZMA compression algorithm), ZIP, CAB, ARJ, GZIP, BZIP2, TAR, CPIO, RPM and DEB formats. Compression ratio in the new 7z format is 30-50% better than ratio in ZIP format. (Read More)

This release includes 7za 4.65 for AmigaOS 3.x and 4.x

Changes to the Amiga version are as follow:

- Improved speed a lot (previous version was compiled without optimizations..)
- Added support for Amiga paths
- No stack problems (hopefully)

NOTE: The os3 builds are some quick&dirty compiles done in ~20 minutes and tested only to create/extract .7z archives, feel free to report any issue you may encounter. OS4 build took a little more to create.. and thanks to Kicko who helped testing.

Great, thank you.  I use 7-zip in the PC/*nix world.  Would love to see this as a module for the Amiga Archiver (what's that, xpk?)
