Hi,
I have a Lexmark 5700 printer which I use for my PC, but I would also like to use on my Amiga. Unfortuanately I can't find any printer drivers for my type of printer, or any other Lexmark for Amiga.
Has anyone succesfully gotten a Lexmark printer to work with their Amiga? Report in, I'm stuck here :-(
-
Mmmhh....i think that your printer and in general Lexmark printers are not supported by AmigaOS...
I remember that some years ago a my friend bought a Lexmark printer and he wasn't able to use it,so he must change his printer with a printer supported by AmigaOS!
I'm sorry...

Hey, I can't take such bad info...Well, thanks for the info, then I'm stuck with only printing on the PC.
But still, if anyone has got it working on their Amiga, let me know.
How lame is that? Why produce printers that are so high tech, and then don't make it availible for as many people as possible?

Lexmark is one of the cheapest printer brands you can buy...
Therefore no drivers besides for Windows... ;-)
And I can't recall any printer brand that actually supports/supported the amiga...
You'll have to stick with the ones supported by AmigaOS or other seperate drivers...

I have NEVER seen drivers for the Amiga except some really old ones that emulate the HP Deskjet 500 series.
There is no developer information and there is unlikely to be any. Stick with Canon, HP or Epson.

There are no drivers for Lexmark printers on Amiga. Not even with TurboPrint or StudioPrint.
As far as printer manufacturers support for Amiga, Canon did at one time support Amiga computers. Though, I don't know if they still do.

cannon and epson and hp are good supported on amiga , but you need one or more of the commercial printer packages , ie like turboprint.
anyway lexmark aint supported on amiga, not any of the later models anyway.
i've got an hp5550 printer and its supported by TP7.50 , so i am happy :D

DONT get a HP710 series. Not supported by AOS due to being cheap and nasty :-)
I found this out the hard way too.
Can you network the amiga and print on windows thatway?
-
I found Amiga drivers for Canon printers on the danish Canon homepage, so I know they excists, and then I figured mayby there where some drivers for Lexmark too. But sadly, there wasn't :-(
As for printing over network, I haven't tried it, but I can't see how I can print a Amiga WordWorth doc on the PC. Mayby I will get myself a canon, as I know where to find the drivers :-)

As I understand it, Lexmark printers cannot be made to run on an Amiga because they are made specifically to communicate with Windows.
I believe it's something like a ROM dependency, which eliminates any possibility of an Amiga driver. Lexmark printers are always promoted as 'Windows ready' or some such crap. At least that's as I see it, but then what do I know?
Cheers,
JaX

As far as I can gather, they recover the money in the price of their cartridges, which border on the obscene.

@JaXanim:
Lexmark printers can be made run on the Amiga, though it requires that someone writes drivers for them as it doesnt seem to exist any at the moment.

Hello
There is an open source Ghostscript driver for
Lexmark 5700 from Peter B. West.
Is it possible to port this driver for Linux
PowerPC on A1 or Pegasos2?
Perhaps someone can read the source code and
port the driver to AOS4 or MorphOS.
Is there any Ghostscript port to Amiga?
