				Antwerp, Belgium - 11 July, 2008.
Hyperion Entertainment is very pleased to announce that Amiga OS 4.1 has gone into final testing and is scheduled for release mid-Q3/2008. Building on the solid foundations of Amiga OS 4.0, Amiga OS 4.1 introduces a wealth of substantial new functionality which is a prerequisite for the deployment of industry standard applications on the Amiga platform.
State-of-the-art applications such as modern web-browsers, productivity software or digital imaging software typically operate on large datasets with a corresponding memory footprint which rapidly outstrips the physical memory of any computer system. Amiga OS 4.1 offers intelligent memory paging and uses transparent disk based memory - but only when you need it.

				Awesome news!

				Is os4 even finished? (Yeah I know its for sale but only just.) I was expecting OS4 to be updated, specially for the classic miggy.

			-
				the info says you need amigaone for 4.1. Perhaps someone smartypantsy could write a thingy to trick os4+ to run on other things like how lightrave tricked lightwave to work without the video toaster. maybe a secret insider job inside hyperion could leak such a thingy. :-O

				This is really something, but where is the hardware for AmigaOS4? Does Hyperion think that we all are living in each bubbles never be able to think outside of that bubble? I mean.. Available for AmigaONE only is what says on Hyperion site.
If Acube is going to sell AmigaOS v4.1 then why not launch it for Acube's PPC motherboard? Why not for PegasosII, EFIKA or even mac hardware? How many got AmigaONE?
Bah.. Well.. Good luck Hyperion ;) Though, I think that MorphOS 2 is way more slick than AmigaOS 4 for now. Hyperion should help out porting games for MorphOS and even AROS also. The community should help it. People like jach who have made Wookiechat for all kinds of AmigaOS related OS's is what we need more of. We know that AmigaOS, AmigaOS4, MorphOS and AROS isn't Linux or Windows, so we need to have developers creating programs using AmigaOS enviroment. Not X11 apps etc...
I hope that Hyperion change someday... so that I can get hold of AmigaOS 4 and at the same time beeing able to run Hyperion games on my MorphOS 2 setup,...
Ciao :)

				@AmiDelf,
Because they dont have a license to ship it with the Acube (or any other) hardware!!!
Sheesh some people just dont think things through do they!  :-(

			-
				Would it not be possible at this stage to port OpenOffice or Mozilla to AmigaOS4.x?

			-
				@LoadWB,
It could be done, but they would both be very big tasks and I think that there are no competent coders left with enough free time to do it  :-(
Although there is OWB for OS4 (and hopefully Sputnik if they guy can get round to porting it), but OS4 does still lack modern Office Software.

				Woo Hoo! an update to a OS that only a handful of people can run! Sweet!
Serious though, they must have some kind of future hardware plans. Why would they keep putting all this work into this?

				Multiple choice answer
They're:
A) Evil Geniuses with a master plan
B) Walk a fine line between dedication and futility
C) Believe in the vision of the Amiga concept to a fault
D) Live in a relatives basement coding away, when they could be working for a fortune 500/ Siicon Valley giant with a comfortable life, but chose to code in exile on the Amiga platform.
E) All of the above
Whatever the reason, hats off, nice list of features for a ".1" release. Release it for Playstation 3 and you'd have a mega hit.

In that second sentence, are you referring to Hyperion?

Odds are, they're trying to update it, to remove any code still owned by A.I.. Think about it from a legal standpoint. Hyperion's gotta prove that the codebase is entirely their own. I'm sure that certain areas of the code are still 68k. Once all that "legacy" code is removed, AOS4+ will be like the various flavors of Linux.
"Yup. It looks like the AmigaOS, but it's not. It's been re-written from the ground up."
They're going the route of MorphOS and AROS.
More power to them. Now, I just need a major AROS update to be happy.
*stares blankly at Bloodline*
 :-P
Three's a good number. Can't have enough Amigas in the world.

				I am sure they have a version of this which runs on SAM. Give us that instead, and Sam will sell loads  :-D

				Hmm, my AmigaOne has a Prophet II graphics card, but the new OS 4.1 requires a Radeon card.

				@Methuselas
Oh sure, lets see them argue that it's a clean room implementation.

				@Golem!dk
Where "them" = bbrv.  :roll:

				@weirdami
Ok, I didn't realise bbrv were working with Hyperion now.

RE: Announcing AmigaOS 4.1
Great news! :-D
Congratulations to everyone who is involved with this release.
I sincerely hope that it proceeds as planned.
All the best,

				@All
I was pleased about the recent MorphOS 2.0 announcement.
I am also pleased about the recent AmigaOS 4.1 announcement.
This upgrade is for people like me who already have an AmigaOne or MicroA1.
I have been running OS4 for approx 3 years and 7 months.  If all goes well, I may soon have a chance to upgrade to AmigaOS 4.1.
Maybe someday in the distant future, the court case will be settled and we can finally move onto new hardware, or other existing PPC hardware.

				@Golem
Oh, he is, he is, and so is the pope! Its all a conspiracy!
No but seriously. It might have the undesired or desired effect of circumventing the the contract which specifies os4.0 and not 4.1(?) *scrambling to find the contract*

				@redfox
If i was Hyperion i would just release it and sort everything later when the similarities between Enron and amiga inc's biz. style/scam becomes more well known.

				I really liked B and C, but they were too much the same. I'm gonna go with my gut on this one...
A) Evil Geniuses with a master plan
And D just describes way too many people in this forum.
 :lol:

				AmigaOS 4.1 rulez.  :-D

				Is it just me, or is this suspiciously similar to some of the recent improvements in AROS?
