I'm Christien Olssen, Norway Amiga developer and i have succeeded to bringing on AmigaOS4,
Opera.
Opera development team has not given me some support and it won't be in the future.
Being also me of the same country of Opera, i have succeeded in getting the
permission to make this porting, but they have imposed some severe limitations.
The Amiga version of Opera will be available only as trial version for 30 days,
past which will be necessary to buy or to register the product.
You can download Opera for then to directly buy it from my site where i
prepared an online shop.
You can see a Screenshot (http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/5563/os4opera2pt0.jpg) of Opera on my OS4 desktop.
Opera prices:
Opera Full version = 39 Eur
P.S.
I'm working on a new GUI for Opera which will be displayed on screen
without using the rendering engine of Reaction or MUI.
For now there are several integration problems with OS4 GUI.

Oh man, I gotta have this!! Do you take zorkmids instead of USD :-?
-
Why limiting Opera for Amiga ? I always use it on pc which is a free download and unlimited use :-?
-
Will it run on my A1200/030!

@Christien Olssen
First mistake, you didn't remove the Windows gadgets from the image before you pasted it onto a snapshot of Workbench. Second mistake, you didn't wait until 1st April.
PS. It was a pathetic attempt anyway. 0/10 for you.

I don't see opera for Amiga OS4 on the Opera website yet. Is there where it should be available?
-
@SCabit and Effy
It's fake, how could you not spot that?

-
Sorry, man, poorly done fake: blurred fonts, Windows gadgets... :-)
Saluditos,
Ferran.

Nice screenshots guys. :-D
Me want Opera and Civilization IV. ;-)
-
I guess there is a port of Windows Vista for our beloved Amiga classic as well :)
-
When someone tells me to clean the PC, one of the 1st thing I do is install opera (if the friend wants and do have Windows).
-because the magic wand (good for begginer ppl)
-no virus
-twice the speed of firefox/ie
-very nice interface and good looking
SO NOW PPC AMIGA HAS A BROWSER, and... WHAT A BROWSER! 8-)
-
The Workbench backdrop image was nice... :-)
-
it has to be real. the date is in march.
-
the close gadget are from Opera and not from Windows ;)
-
Well done! ;-)
-
twice the speed of firefox
You've not used Firefox 3 yet, have you? In terms of speed and memory-efficiency, it's caught right up with Webkit and Opera.
-
what about this (http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/3171/os41jk6.jpg)
Same author ... before the fine tuning mockup! :-)
-
Dangit, stole my idea...
I was almost done modifying AmiWM with Opera for it too...
-
I knew it was fake when there was a claim to pay for it.
Opera is free for everyone, so it doesn't make sense to charge for it.
still, funny idea!
-
i remember something about opera being not free. did they stop making you pay for it?
-
Even worse than my Amiga port of Doom 3 (http://www.mashley.net/xboxemu.jpg)

Those of you sitting on the western end of the Atlantic seem to be forgetting that Norway has a time zone of +0200 - that post was made 1:48 local time.
-
Yes, it's a 1st April news and also Olssen user is a fake :D
Strange, because i posted the news from italy after 24:00, so the 01/04/2008..
Framiga has found the original fake that i have made for italian users, but i have wrong some details.
So, my first joke was a full failure..
-
i have to be honest ... for a couple of seconds you got me in! :-)
-
That first name is not even slightly norwegian that gave it away..
-

you never had to pay for it.
-
You know that you are down when you get optimistic news on April 1st...
-
you never had to pay for it.
Opera was not always free, you did have to pay for it at one point, i think i still have a trial version somewhere, do a search on a site like astalavista you will find keygens for it for windows and linux, also as noted above by someone else you have to pay for the symbian version still and also the wii version (although with wii points).
-
Wii version costs you 500 points / £3.50.

Wii version costs you 500 points / £3.50
Yeah it was free for a little time though, unlucky for me i missed that chance to get it, still aint got round to getting it, but dont really see a need for it atm.
-
Opera was not always free, you did have to pay for it at one point,
I started using Opera at around version 6 something. It had ad banners that ran at the top and if you paid for opera you could get rid of the banners.
I just ignored them. Soon after, they stopped having a banner version. You do have to pay for a full version of Opera Mobile for cell phones, but Opera Mini is free
The point is that even with banners no one HAD to pay for Opera.
-
I'm going to stick with my rememberance of not using Opera because you had to pay for it. I even remember when Opera first came out and thinking that I should be using it.
-
I confirm, first versions of Opera for desktop were commercial, until they switched to the banner-based free version.
