Title: GALACTIC by Terramarque
Post by: SKAN on October 23, 2003, 06:16:35 PM
"Galactic" is a great game made by a great developer, Stavros Fasulas. It never went commercial, but a demo appeared as a coverdisk on AF (or CU, just don't remember!). Now, the game itself is just a file, so HD installation should be simple, but playing it on something different than a plain OCS/AGA machine is quite impossible, you need JST or WHDload. I've got  a Blizzard 1260 with SCSI and 48meg and even if I disable the board the game goes guru right after decrunching. Any suggestion? Must I use WHDload/JST? I know the game has OCS/AGA detection, but it behaves like an OCS-only game. HELP!

Are there any screenshots of that game anywhere? I know Stavros Fasoulas is a legendary Finnish coder and the father of Mindroll (Quedex) but about that Galactic game I've never heard of.. As a games collector I'd be very interested to hear/see some more! :-o

Stavros Fasoulas is a living reincarnation of a god (along with many others like Manfred Trenz).

Delta... Sanxion... Aaaaargh...

Don't know about Galactic however... If you succeed in finding it please let us know! Screenshots would be welcome too! :-)

There was an installer for Galactic and Galactic Xmas edition in Aminet, to make them A1200-compatible. I can dig it out of my libray, if you want.

I played the game once. You can try a whdload installer http://www.whdload.de/games/G.html or if you don't want that, you could try some degraders like run500 or ecslaunch. JST can work as a degrader too by using the execute argument.

I didn't know that Stavros Fasoulas was finnish because this is a greek name and surname. Has he made any other games?

Spyros:  I can't be 100% if Stavros Fasoulas was an allias, but I think it was.. Otoh, it's quite possible his parents (father)  have moved to Finland.. etc..

Anyhow. People seem to mistake some others too.. Like T.Rossi, author of quite many useful utilities for C64 and Amiga.. Some people mistakely consider him Italian due his last name.  :-)

I just remembered of another programmer whom you might know. This one is Greek. His name is Kostas Panagis. He used to make games for Amstrad CPC computers if I'm not mistaken. He is the one who made Deflector (a puzzle game) and HATE (a shoot'em up). Ever heard of him?

Sounds familiar. Deflector I know, it's a great game! :-)

Wasn't he a programmer of "ElfMania" too?
I remember there was another game planned by him; it was a chase car game with visual from top, but I think tere were only some (really great, better than any similar game) screenshots.
