Title: Uropa² and 68060?
Post by: scholle on October 22, 2003, 08:23:41 PM
Hi, Folks!

Probably someone has experiences with Uropa²
running on 68060? The game works fine until
I try to use the Hovar on the surface. Then
the task gmm produces a software failure of
8000000B. Is there something I can do about
it?

TIA,

Scholle

Don't recall this on my 060, but you may want to try to switch of any special features of the 060 in the early boot menu or the setcpu command. Can't remeber the specifics either.. Guess it's been to long..

Unfortunately switching off the caches, starting without startup-sequence etc. doesn't help. But I know both the base part and also the surface part once worked on my miggy when I tried Uropa² first. Must have been with OS3.0 or 3.1 on my old 68EC30 board. As times go by... :-(

At last! Fiddling around with SnoopDos I found the clue. For the interested: Renaming the ugfx.library from the Uropa² folder into ugfx020.library did it. :-)

Hello Stefan,

The ugfx.library is coded for 68000 processors whereas the ugfx020.library is for 020-060. The game detects which processor you have and opens the appropriate library. The 060 will work fine with ugfx, however there is a small speedup when using the 020+ code.

The file should have been copied into libs: during installation. The library is on the CD or I can make it available if you want  :-)

There are a couple of patches available on my website: www.austexsoftware.com (http://www.austexsoftware.com)

Regards,
Stephen. (wow, my first post  :-) )
