Title: Acer Inc. Plans to Acquire Gateway for $710 Million
Post by: redrumloa on August 27, 2007, 12:05:45 PM
Acer Inc., the world's fourth-largest computer vendor by unit sales, plans to acquire U.S. computer maker Gateway Inc. for $710 million, the Taiwanese company said Monday.

Acer is offering to buy Gateway for $1.90 per share in a deal expected to complete by December, pending regulatory approvals in Taiwan and the U.S., Acer said in a statement.

The acquisition has been unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both Gateway and Acer and is subject to standard closing conditions, it said.

Are there any Amiga patents/trademarks in Gateway's ownership?

Think the trademarks went to AI.  Patents were licensed to AI so whatever patents that are still enforce (ie haven't expired) will be Acer's as will be Gateway's Amiga Developement LLC.  Just when you thought the AI vs Hyperion was getting as muddy as possible, now AI's licensed IP will change ownership.  :roflmao:

So we will see Bill McEwww's body on the next episode of "Will it blend?"

I highly doubt Acer will do anything with Amiga stuff though. However, the world has seen stranger things happening...

Holy Sh!t! Nate, where have *YOU* been hiding? Nice to see you around these parts again!!  :-D

OT, Who cares? I wanted *BOTH* companies to go bankrupt or a playboy model for my 34th birthday this month.

I didn't get either.

Just let this dog die, already. It's about Acer buying Gateway. I seriously doubt they want anything to to with the Amiga, except to ridicule.
