Magnetic Systems, a long time Amiga dealer, is pleased to announce the forming of a New Amiga User Group! The Southern California Amiga and PowerPC User Group. (SCAPUG) This group is devoted to support of Classic Amigas, Next Gen PPC Amigas like Pegasos and Amiga 1, as well as Linux PPC users! We have a fantastic location for meetings which is the Santa Monica Public Library..
http://www.smpl.org/depts/branches/index.htm
Its a lovely 7 million dollar facility, newly built and right by the ocean! We will rent on of the professional meeting rooms for the event, for a special price of $50. this includes a professional presentation system with projector and audio, as well as a white board and excellent seating.. The costs will come out of member dues. there is also a very nice outdoor cafe on the grounds with great food at good prices. Our meetings will be the first Saturday of the month starting in June.
All users are welcome and there will be much fun and help for new Amiga people as well as old! We will focus on demos of Amiga hardware and software with tutorials and upgrade/repair sessions. This is a must attend for all Amiga and PPC fanatics. No red blue nonsense, so OS4, Morphos, Classic, Linux PPC users all welcome! We will do demos of morphos, Os4, old school Amiga, Ubuntu PPC, Gentoo and more!
Please PM me and/or reply on this thread to show interest in this group, questions, or membership details. It is easily reached via the Pacific Coast highway and I-10. Perfect for users in the Los Angeles/San Diego region. Cant wait to see you there.
Long Live Amiga.

Sounds great, but a bit of a drive from the UK :boohoo:

Great timing!!! I just tendered my resignation/retirement and will have more free time as soon as my 30 day notice is over. I am going independent from now on, so my work schedule will be very flexible (I hope).
This is just what I have been waiting for, so count me in. Way in, in fact. Do you need help setting up the club? I am about 2 hours away in Big Bear Lake, but with my new wheels (Dodge Nitro R/T), I don't mind the drive at all.
The location sounds great, I don't know how you got such a great deal on the room rental in a new building like that. I used to be a supervisor for a contractor who built houses and did remodels in Santa Monica many years ago and love the area.
I'll send you a PM with all my contact info.
Yahoo! Hope we can find enough other local users interested in this great opportunity. Come on Amiga users, I am willing to drive the 2 hours each way, how about you?

Err magnetic, you may want to check the link to your website listed in your profile, it seems to 404 and then jump to a porn site.
(Link in his profile or visit http://www.magneticsystemsnyc.com/ (http://www.magneticsystemsnyc.com/)
May want to fix that :-)

I look forward to taking pot shots at os4 amiga inc fans in person! this should be fun, maybe I can dig out some of my classic amiga grear and put the new amiga to shape by doing real time 3d animation and video editing? See you there.

Thanks..new weblink on profile now :-) that was weird. We will be re-launching our site, which is why there is a placeholder for that domain.

Hollllie crap! A new user group. Good luck gathering the crew up. Southern Ca is a bit of a drive for me, though.
Wish I could get up to Sacramento more. grumble grumble.

I would be interested, especially since I live in Burbank... I guess it depends on the timing of the events...
Regards...

There is always The Other Group of Amigoids (TOGA) which meets in Mountain View (San Jose, California area) usually on the third Saturday of the month. For more info, go to http://www.calweb.com/~rabel1/

Hmm, about a 4-hour drive for me to get there. Perhaps one day... After all, I make the 3-hour drive to a TOGA meeting. :-)
