Post by: Rabbi on January 21, 2007, 02:23:08 PM
CNet BBS, which can be accessed over the internet, too, via a telnet client, has been updated as of Dec 31, 2006.  A new user manual is scheduled to follow at the end February 2007.  Here's the URL link:

Check out the news link there for more info & the store link for purchasing this product.

 Good to see CNet is back onsale again.  Now if it can be dragged into modern standards, I'd like to buy it again.  Full web interface vs telnet would be for starters.

It has been over 7+ years from the last release of CNet, but It still competes with best BBS packages out there.

I couldn't help but chuckle when I read that... There are so many other BBS packages out there, dontcha know?  ;-)

But seriously, this is great news, and I'm happy to hear that the CNet is back around.  The prices are quite fair, too.  Anyone know how long the introductory rates are for?  I've got a bunch of spare cycles on my new fileserver.  It's tempting to run UAE and CNet.  ;-)

Well, RIP graphics would give it a somewhat similar point-&-click experience as a web page.  I don't know if you can still register RIPGRAF :-? , but you can d/l RIPgraphicsp_I from AmiNet & use that to design RIP screens.

Forgot about RIP, it sort of worked.  I'm referring to breathing new life into CNET by giving it full web access.  CNet was the only thing that kept me interested in the Amiga.  Today, who does dialup BBS anymore?  I don't see it as economically viable  anymore.  Now using CNet as a base to have optional dialup BBS or web base BBS, could make CNet viable in the age of the Internet.  I sure would rather use CNet then say XOOPS.
