News:
- New Ethernet Adapter class for Pegasus chipsets!
- New USB data link class!
- HID class fixes and improvements.
- Mass storage class can now automount CD/DVDs and
NTFS, given the filesystem is available.
- Several bugfixes.
Download the update either via Trident or from my homepage.
http://www.platon42.de/index2.html
Please also note that Poseidon V2.x keyfiles are now finally invalid for
Poseidon V3.4. I think nearly one year of testing should be enough time to
decide for an upgrade or not.
A release V3.4 for MorphOS is currently not planned as it will be part of
the MorphOS V1.5 update anyway.

great!!!
let's hope the new New Ethernet Adapter class will be available for normal devices too!
-
Thank you for another update to this excellent program.

What do you mean by "normal devices"? Is it possible that you confuse "PegasUs" with "PegasOs"? These are completely different things.
In fact, supporting USB Ethernet Adapters for the Pegasos, which has two 100MBit Ethernet ports, seems a bit silly. So this makes more sense for the classic Amigas without Zorro Ethernet card.
-
I hope we'll see a MOS-version soon. Of course I wouldn't mind if that version would come with other stuff attached, e.g. MOS 1.5. :-D
-
Just ordered a USB->Ethernet adaptor :-)
-
Let me know how u get on, would like an easy way to network my miggy
I have a Z4 zorro busplane, what would be the best/cheapest way to add usb do u reckon
how much is posidon?
which adapter u order?

Subway USB (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=137) is supplied with a Poseidon licence and can be connected to the clockport. Pop into our Cardiff office and have a look at the Subway USB.

Hi Chris,
Is there some other reason not to release the update for MorphOS other than "it will be included in 1.5 release"? Does the MorphOS version require 1.5 components or .. ?
Your software is exceptionally important part of of Amiga/AlikeOS.. for once us Pegsters get to be jealous towards 3.x users.. ggrrrrr :-)
-
oh really??!?? my bad then! I thought lan was only supported in the pegasos computers!
nice! I am gonna get a usb->lan too!
any good ones on eBay?
edit: after reading the docs, I see a sana-II driver is created... will this eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-LAN-RJ45-ETHERNET-10-100-MBPS-NETWORK-ADAPTER-CARD_W0QQitemZ200043210322QQihZ010QQcategoryZ20319QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) usb->lan adapter work?
-
what about support for this (http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-5-1-Channel-3D-External-Sound-Card-4-PC-Laptop-S07_W0QQitemZ170044616081QQihZ007QQcategoryZ44982QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)? :-o

Chris,
I've been meaning to get in touch with you.
I asked Martin (Leviticus) Blom about interfacing AHI with a USB sound card. I purchased an Ion Audio record turntable with a USB interface (model iTTUSB from http://www.ionaudio.com). It has a built-in sound card, which I guess, interfaces through the HID.Device? I wanted to convert all my vinyl LP records to MP3s & CDs with this turntable using AudioEvolution, but the missing link is that AHI has yet to interface with a USB sound card.
I sent Martin a donation of 100 euros for this effort. He told me that he tried to get in touch with you and hasn't heard back. I guess that you were busy with the finishing touches on version 3.4, sorry.
Now that it's released, can you co-ordinate with Martin about an AHI interface with USB sound cards, if it's possible? Let us know, please.
Thanks in advance, and thanks for the update! :-D
P.S.: BTW, the PlusDeck from http://www.plusdeck.com (BTO) will soon have a USB model out for converting cassette tapes to .WAV & MP3s, as well, which I want to get, too.

@Rabbi:
> He told me that he tried to get in touch with you and hasn't heard back.
I've replied to him the very same day I got his email (12.10.06) to martin at blom org. After getting no reply, I sent a "did you get my email" email on 26.10.06, again with no reply. So could you tell Martin to check his spamfilter or give me an alternate email address, in cast the email got filtered somehow.

No, Poseidon V3.4 does not need MOS1.5 components as far as I know. However, it never has been tested on MOS 1.4.x.
The main two reasons are:
- There is hardly a functional benefit compared to V3.3 for Pegasos (why would you need an USB ethernet adapter on the Peg?)
- There have been a lot of problems with the PsdRomUpdate script, which doesn't really work well in terms of removing the old Poseidon from the boot image.
So, no need to be jealous. But before people start going into therapy, let me know, I might release a MOS version for the stubborn.

@keropi:

I guess not. I've searched all over the net, but I couldn't find out anything about this thing, except that it looks like some "no name" made in China.
For the Pegasus chipset you might need to watch out for some older, bigger adapters, in most cases USB 1.1.
-
Cool, thanks for the great work.
:-o
I have one of these Linksys USB100M
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124146

Hi Chris,
Again, Many thanks.
Kind Regards, Michael

Don't know if anyone's still reading this thread now that it's off the front page, but I can confirm that the
SMC2208USB/ETH
does not work. That'll teach me to doublecheck my research for next time. Good thing it was cheap.
-
That stinks. Can anyone say if they got any USB -> Ethernet thingy to work?
:-?
