Post by: Lecta on September 22, 2006, 06:39:01 PM
Pianeta Amiga, Empoli, Italy - 22nd September

We are very pleased to announce that GuruMeditation has just confirmed that at Pianeta Amiga 2006 you'll be able to see the first prototypes of 2 boards developed by Troika: Amy'05 and Panda.

The boards are already in the hands of GuruMeditation and will be at Pianeta Amiga this weekend.

But the news are not over. For the duration of the show you can buy from GuruMeditation the acclamated AudioEvolution for the special price of 75 euros.

See you at Pianeta Amiga!

Pianeta Amiga will be held 23rd and 24th september 2006 (this weekend!) in Empoli (Florence) Italy at the Palaesposizioni building. Full details on our website www.pianetaamiga.it

Cool!  Will we also get to see them WORKING to any extent (booting into a BIOS or running some varient of Linux?) or will they just be sitting on display, unplugged?  Either way, I'm looking forward to some photos.

Wrong. Panda was not developed by Troika. The only thing they did was renaming it (and probably putting a Panda-sticker on it).

If only half of all presentations anounced will be held on the show the Italians still would have a real kick-ass Amiga show. Can't wait to read all about it.

I have a question.  If Amiga Inc has clearly stated that Troika has no license with Amiga Inc, how exactly is this supposed to be Amiga related?

@Wayne

Because Troikas plan is to get a license. Just because they don't have one doesn't mean they'll never get one.

They also clearly stated that no one else has gotten a license so far as well, which means that none of these boards is amiga related by that definition. Troika might for all we know request a license only after the hardware is in order. We just dont know yet....

But the amy is definitely no less amiga related than the other projects that have been announced.

I myself will be very skeptical until i see any of these boards being demoed with OS4.

July 28 2005 The Troika web site was announced.  Our only product in development at that time(Amy05). The AmiGBG 2005 fair in Gothenburg, Sweden.  Look and see who announced it?

Agreed, but did you have a look at the IRC log? (http://www.ping.de/sites/tarbos/pianeta_amiga_2006_log.txt)
Ethilza never really talks about specific hardware projects and in general he is very reserved with comments on any "new" hardware, or a port for a hardware project.
Heck, he didn't even answer the question if they are currently porting to **any** new hardware without giving **any** names. This could have to do with the current dispute with Amiga Inc.
Hyperion could fear that if they openly say that they are porting to a specific hw, that Amiga Inc.  would defiantly and stubbornly refuse to agree on a license for that project due to the ongoing dispute.

After the announcement of the "Italians" I start to get the impression that we will soon get "new hardware". Hardware that will hopefully run Linux.
Nobody knows if it will ever legally run OS4.

So after having presumably solved the "hardware" hold-up, a new problem surfaces that keeps us from buying odd and expensive hardware running OS4, the "new" hardware needs a license and somebody got to port OS4 to it in a situation where Amiga Inc. has very specific license-requirements and the companies are in legal dispute over the OS ownership. This doesn't make me particularly optimistic that there will be soon **any** "new" hardware running OS4. After all, this is Amiga. Oh well...
