Title: Interview with Elena "Fractals" Novaretti
Post by: rhino on July 25, 2006, 12:13:16 PM
Total Amiga issue 24 (which is out now) contains an interview with Elena Novaretti the author of ZoneXplorer, the best Fractal program for Amiga OS.

Our intrepid interviewer, Magnus Johnson, submitted such a detailed article that we couldn't fit it all in the magazine! Therefore we have made the full interview, complete with detailed mathematical discussion (don't worry, there's lots to interest the less technically minded too) and explanatory diagrams from Elena, available as a PDF from our website:

If you enjoy this interview please consider subscribing to Total Amiga were we regularly publish interviews with Amiga developers as well all kinds of other articles.

Very nice reading! A "must" for users interested in fractals

I have just had a look at the fractal gallery on her web site. Really amazing! How the hell do you create fractal patterns like that? I have played with fractal generators in the past and can only ever get them to generate pre-defined patterns which all look the same. Whenever I try to modify the fractal algorithm I either end up with a blank screen or a very slightly modified Mandelbrot set.

Yeah, it's about time that someone developed a female Amiga.

Have you tried yourself to
create anything “realistic” in
ZoneXplorer?

It’s not possible at this point to
build a precise image starting
from a formula, it would be more
like using a ray tracing program
while actually exploring fractals
is more like photography in new,
(partially?) unexpected worlds.

Perhaps Elena would be interested in this article I spied a few days ago:

indeed! the only "limit" about fractals is that you will never know what you will get as result.
(erm well Elena apart)
