Does this offer also apply to the Dragon, which supposedly will be presented/produced in May 2006? :-P

Still no mention of the Dragon :-(

Still no mention of the Dragon
Maybe this offer is for getting some cash to fund Dragon production. ;-)

unlikely

The "Dragon" will never be produced/released.
-
"But I still haven't find what i'm looking for..." U2 :-P
-
"Great update" about Dragon please!
-
Hm, no Dragon news, though it should be available for months now...
Moreover, they seem to fear the new AmiVD, as they go for Zorro III bus boards now :-) I've got the impression that there's sale out for their stuff, together with their YAEFSO (Yet Another Elbox Free Shipping Offer).

Last news (after about 317 delays) on the Mediator-List was that the Dragon should be demoed and produced in May 2006.

luckily still a few days left of may ;-)

I really hope the AmiVD will have an autoswitcher so scandoublers/flickerfixers can be used with it in a sensible manner.
If that doesn't happen I atleast hope the designers have the foresight of equipping the board with a header which logic output toggles depending on wether the board or the Amigas chipset is supposed to be the active output, so third party autoswitchers can be made.

AmiVD is as much Vapourware as the Shark and Dragon. Last news I could find was that it would be released late last year. And if you're going to make a new graphics card why base it on an old no-longer-produced chipset when the current low-end Radeons perform many times better at the same cost.

At least I held the AmiVD in my hands and have seen it working. Can't say this about the Shark or the Dragon (okay okay, I also held a Sonnet card in my hands once ;-D).
The problem is as usually the time and resources -- as with all spare time projects. Unfortunately, the producer is *really* busy with his Ph.D. thesis right now.
And the AmiVD is not based on a graphics chipset. It is basically a two (or possibly more) slots PCI to Zorro bridge bundled with a graphic card for which drivers exist.

And the modern Radeon cards are far to fast for the much slower Z3 busboard. It´s like having a 600 HP engine in a car that is limited to 55 miles per hour speed :boohoo:

No. E3B has never produced vapourware (this is one thing we never ever will be able to compete with Elb*x :-D ).
Would you believe me if I made a photo of the preproduction card with a current newspaper (to see the date) in my hand?
Or maybe running P96 on it with full PCI-PCI DMA on a NEC2 chip and a RTL8139 card in parallel?
...make a new graphics card why base it on an old no-longer-produced chipset when the current low-end Radeons perform many times better at the same cost.
Well. Radeon based PCI cards have a PCI-PCI bridge. No existing Amiga Classic PCI solution does even try to support these beasts, as you need more efforts in hardware to get things done.
Moreover, modern PCI cards need 3.3V power supply on PCI (as well as the SharkPPC aka Sonnet), and this power supply needs to source quite a few amps. This issue is also not easy to solve in Amiga computer with small power budgets.
It has reasons why the AmiVD is delayed, and my ongoing PhD work is one of them (next to it, work on the AmiVD is proceeding).

And I always thought a major characteristic of vapourware was that it's not produced. :-P

Lucky you. I always find reasons to delay my PhD, the Amiga is just one of them.
