After a longer delay than originally planned the new SUBWAY is shipping worldwide to Amiga dealers.
As a small goody and surprise these SUBWAY modules are being delivered with a full Poseidon V3.x OEM license from Chris Hodges.
Please check the press release on our website (http://www.e3b.de/usb/) for details.

good news from one side, no comment for the price from the other. poseidon 3x will raise the price or not? BTW: what happens to the prometheus plans?
-
Pricing should not differ too much from the old SUBWAY, but that's up to the dealers. Poseidon V3.x OEM license is a goody for the long waiting time.
Prometheus plans: progressing. What I needed at the moment is a day with 36 hours instead of 24  .

Hey:) What do think will be the speed difference in the Prometheus after the DMA update is complete (between cards and to processor cards) ?
:pint:
-
Great news. Is there anyway to tell the old from new on dealers websites?
Also, any plans for another Algor Pro run?

Your questions are hard to answer, but I'll try.
First of all: the upgrade will mainly cover DMA issues, not speed issues, as the Prometheus design is already fast enough.
For PCI-PCI card speed, you can take the ElBugs phantasy value: 32bit x 33.33MHz = 128MByte/s.
PCI cards will never reach this limit, as you will only get it with a burst of infinitive length and no address phase. In reality it will be lower, as bursts are limited in length by the bus arbiter, and PCI cards will use different access speeds (DEVSEL# timing, and TRDY# timings).
Not to mention that PCI cards can ask the master for RETRY, which will also cost bandwidth.
For Zorro III - PCI speed: depends on the PCI card addressed. Memory on gfx cards is fast by writing but slow on reading (not done usually on gfx cards).
Most important is: the new CPLD designs are mixing PCI-PCI DMA and Zorro III accesses in a reliable way as fast as possible. You can have Picasso96 running (yielding in many Zorro III - PCI accesses to the gfx memory), with heavy PCI-PCI DMA at the same time. The DMA arbiter will even use the small time gap between two consecutive Zorro III accesses (originating in the Buster) for PCI-PCI transactions. ;-)

Ask for the SUBWAY serial number. Take a look on my website (http://www.e3b.de/usb/) (USB -> Poseidon), where the difference is explained in detail.
Also, any plans for another Algor Pro run?
We are evaluating this issue already. As mentioned before, my time is limited at the moment, and I have to concentrate on my PhD work.

You are doing a great job. :-D

Yap, this is the PCI add on I'll probably buy for my A4000. BTW any chance of a zorro daughter card like design, like the Mediator 4000Di ? 8-)
-
And we didnt make a new daughterboard out of Prometheus because we aimed at the maximum compatibility, some Amiga types do not have
daughterboards at all (like A4000T).

the answear i get from Filip when i've done the same question

Hi. Yes I know, but installing a Prometheus in an A4000/3000D is a pain from what I've heard, you have to leave the desktop case open. I guess you can't have compatibility with all models. I'll probably towerize my 4000 soon, but many people prefer to keep their desktop cases.
-
@Jose
Don't you remember my guides on using the Promethues in a desktop case about ~2 years ago? It can be done fairly easily with right angle adapters.
-
@redrumloa: is there any posibility for a repeat of this guide? :-)
-
This is the best I could find in a quick search.
Prommy in a A4000D (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=45730)
The pictures are no longer there, as they were hosted with Anachronism Industries. From memory the A3000 is similar. The differences is the A3000D case is wider, but shorter. You lose one more zorro slot, but you don't have to use a flex adapter. You can use a rigid right angle adapter. I forget which part number, if you search the forums you can probably find the discussions.
I no longer own an Amiga, so doing a new guide would be tough :-(

grate work :-)

@Red
Yeah, I had forgot about that, so I guess it's possible :-)

kick!
anyone know who sells the subway usb nowadays :-?
