Post by: AmiKit on March 29, 2006, 11:53:38 PM
AmiKit, the high-end classic Amiga enviroment for WinUAE, now supports antialiased TrueType fonts! Other features involve faster icon loading, better color remapping, lot of new or updated software, etc. etc.

Download the latest update from http://amikit.amiga.sk

Major features of AmiKit 1.1.0 update:

- AmiKit now supports antialiased TrueType fonts!
- Loading speed of icons has been increased!
- Quality of icon rendering has been improved!
- WinUAE emulation software updated to version 1.2.0
- AmiKit now contains the largest collection of AmigaOS3.9 patches.

NOTE: Make sure your AmiKit is already updated to 1.04 before you install the 1.1.0 update. To verify the installation please check the AmiKit:Expansion drawer for log files.

IMPORTANT: If you already installed AfA_OS into your AmiKit, please remove it completely (especially from startup-sequence or user-startup) before you install 1.1.0 update!

For more information please visit http://amikit.amiga.sk . I'd like to thank to all people who donated and supported the development!

Woot!  The screenshots look terrific, congratulations mate ;)

I'm not really a fan of BitStream Vera, but I guess until we find a work around for the size/scaling of other fonts this will do for now ;)

Guess I ought to get the AIAB add-on together now...

Take care,
James

Are Amiga Forever, amikit, aiab, and amisys all alternatives to each other or are they in some sense complimentary?  Can all exist on the same PC?

I guess all need the latest winUAE and Amiga Forever could supply the roms and the various AmigaOS but is there more synergy than this?

Thanks.

No, each kit is a big add-on that installs on top of a fresh, default OS3 partition. Each kit is specific and features different combinations of third-party apps and libraries. You can't install them all on a single system, it wouldn't make sense (and they would most certainly conflict with each others).

On the other hand, you can easily install each kit on its own system partition, especially under WinUAE. That can be convenient if you want to compare them to each other.

Can this be made to run on real Amiga hardware?  I am sure a 060 and graphics card are needed.

well... technically yes, practically no. Current package is fine-tuned for WinUAE only so if you want to run it on real Amiga some modifications are needed.
