E3Bis pleased to announce an additional production run of the popular and successful USB controller SUBWAY for the clockport. Production could be started just right before Michael Böhmers short research "vacation" and is running now.
The new production run was made possible also by a former competitor on the USB market. Massimo Mancini - design of the only prototype staged UltraBUS (http://www.credev.com/) did sell his part stock to E3B. This helped us out of a shortage created by selling policies of chip industry and German distributors.
The SUBWAY will be accompaigned by Chris Hodges USB stack Poseidon (http://www.platon42.de/) in the version V2.x. This version is fully licensed and can be upgraded to V3.x by the outstanding offer of E3B, which will cover part of the license fee.
E3B will announce shipment of SUBWAY controllers after production and quility tests on Amiga news pages. For sure the SUBWAY will be available with all bigger Amiga dealers.
To allow all dealers (also from non-European countries) to order SUBWAY at their favourite distributor, E3B cooperates with individual computers (http://ami.ga/) for distribution.

I wonder if it will cost 100+ euros...

Good news.
Plenty of stock of the A1200 Subway USB (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=137) controller here at www.amigakit.com if anyone is struggling to find it.

Just bought a Subway (from AmigaKit) a few weeks ago. I'm really pleased with it, I've had no problems whatsoever. Poseidon is a killer application and has been able to handle every USB thing I've thrown at it. Definetly worth it's 65£.

Wahts the speed and CPU usage like compared to a Spider on a Mediator?
It will be slower the clock port wont be able to push the same speed as the pci configs do, so i dont think you would have a great time plugging a hard drive into it but then again it fits nicely inside a 1200D more than you can say about the mediator

i never owned any USB solution at all but i have a XSurf2 on my A4K.
Do you think it would be a good/cheap solution for me for a mouse-keyboard-mass storage? (like a camera)

Hi All,
USB key/jump drives are now common at my work. I think I have a better chance of justifying USB for my Amigas there than finding a compatible CD burner.
Has anyone used the Subway with the clockports on Individual Computers' X-Serf card, or the Catweasel 2?

Quite a few people have such a combo (X-Surf) running. Regarding Catweasel 2 - I don't know, and I don't have one at home for checking.
You can also ask at the HIGHWAY USB mailing list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/highway_usb/) for experiences on this issue.
