Just for fun, here's a small list of excuses I've been compiling over the last couple of years from the various companies and people who make up the community that we are all part of. We're used to hearing them constantly, are we not? Not all of these excuses are without basis but all were funny at the time. No company names or people will be mentioned. See if you can match excuse to person, group or company. :-)
1) We have been mailbombed by viruses and large files.
2) Our supplier slipped the delivery by two weeks with the usual "take it or leave it" attitude.
3) A plow cut our T1 line.
4) We're moving to a new server.
5) Our server was hit by lightning.
6) We're on holiday and after that changing office.
7) The compiler generated buggy code with optimizations enabled.
8) We won't ship to protest against the war.
9) We got snowed in, so can't do that until later in the week.
10) We didn't make the GUI purely aesthetically pleasing and chose those colours because we were designing it with colour-blind people in mind.
11) We'll send out your vouchers as soon as the product is shipping.
12) It was only slow because the debug level was turned up to 10.
13) The data corruption was probably caused by a bad install of Linux, not from the board itself.
14) You can only make a good first impression once, so we gave up.
15) Our northbridge is buggy, not the board.
16) Smart refresh uses too much memory.
17) We have virtual memory implemented but won't waste time testing it because RAM is cheap.
18) We have much more important things to support than floppy, 3D, TV-out and firewire.
19) We're having some DNS troubles.
20) The RDB-wiping code can only be triggered by people trying to pirate our software.
21) 3D games are boring anyway.

hmm the point of this thread is?
Now I dont know if ive lost my sense of humor or what here but I dont find this thread funny in the slightest, is it meant to be :-? I dunno I just give up and going to go to bed
note to self: stop posting on here late at night, its not worth it.

The point of the thread was in its first three words.
And if it gets people to be more wary of swallowing rash promises and silly excuses from the people/companies they choose to listen to, all the better.

23) The actual product isn't shipping yet - what's curently shipping is a pre-release for developers, which isn't eligible for the discount.
24) I can't attend the show because of a court case... er i mean, family problems.
25) I can't attend the court case because of health problems.
26) We can't send out the t-shirts because of logistical problems but these will be sorted in a couple of weeks.
27) Rather than releasing product X, we have delayed it and will incorporate features previously planned for product X.1...
Rather than releasing product X.1 we have delayed it in order to incorporate features originally planned for product X.2...
Rather than releasing product X.2 we have.... etc
28) We're moving offices to be closer to our partners.
29) We're just selling off some old office furniture that we don't need any more (because we don't have any offices...)
30) We need to have this pre-payment... err... i mean club promotion in order to guage interest and find out how many products to manufacture.

Funny quotes. But point above makes no sense as excuse (developers love SMARTREFRESH, it means let the OS do it). Bug fix:

Id like to know which company names and people that you chose not to mention? you know, just for fun... Ive seen a few of those before but im left thinking you have only given half of the companies a decent mention, perhaps you should try harder because i KNOW that other companies spread crap far worse then what you have mentioned. I wonder why you dont mention those? i guess we have come to expect it from you...
