It is not exactly known how many PowerUP Dual Processor and Graphic Boards were made. phase 5 spoke about 10.000 cards that were build but it is unknown how many cards were made by DCE. With this registration we want to get more precise numbers and break it down in each models based on their serial number.
Our call is aimed to every user of a PowerUP Dual Processor and Graphic Board to submit us his model and serial number with the following forms.

How many registrations do you have so far?
-
by serial numbers not every one that has one will be trilled to digg inside their tower to find the serial num on the card nor on bvision, cyber......
well i do hope you get enugh people to report i know i will

Well, for the CPU board itself, the program 'WhichAmiga' will report the serial number.
For the BV-PPC/CV-PPC, well, just do it whenever you open your Amiga for some other reason.
-
Good chance to give their Amiga's a clean and a health check!
-
I'd like to point out that the Phase 5 number is made up and is likely 4 or 5x bigger then the actual number sold which has nothing to do with how many are still running now.

serial numbers is bad idea (becouse for example i am, do not want to open my tower, and remove cd-drive, etc ,etc)
-
@kas1e
Just use WhichAmiga (http://www.iki.fi/sintonen/sw/WhichAmiga.lha) to get the serial?
-
@Piru
Yep, worked fine here on my A4000 because I didn't want to take my whole tower apart :crazy:
-
@piru
1.3.16 version do not print any info about serial number, but 1.3.23 print only this :) :
Blizzard PPC serial #: яAяяяяяяяяяяо`¬/
-
@kas1e
Ok, fubared flash...
I guess you indeed would need to check the sticker.
-
Could I recommend to the organisers of this that they mention that the serial can be obtained from WhichAmiga? There was no way I was going to open my machines up just for this, even though I think it's a great idea, but running a bit of software is no problem at all!
EDIT: err, it does mention it. Is that new? I didn't notice it last time :-)

It's not new, you just need glasses badly... :-)

Why dont you read the text in the registration? Its already mentoined.
-
If you still have the Original boxes, you should find the serial stickers on them too (at least the phase5 ones).
-
I will register my Cybervision PPC next time I open my 4000 (Probably next weekend)
Don't have a CyberstormPPC to go with it though :( Just a CS-MkIII

10.000 accelerator cards...? Nowadays it seems as if they only made a couple of them.
The last PPC card I saw on eBay went for more than I originally paid for my one factory new.
-
10.000 accelerator cards...? Nowadays it seems as if they only made a couple of them.
Including the gfx cards so count 2.500 for each.
-
I hate to be a pain, but what exactly is the point of this??
There are users that have had their cards die, and those that sent DCE their cards for repair, and never got them back.
This won't tell you how many were made. At best you'll find out how many are still alive and active.

And? Whats the problem?
-
It would be even more interesting for all accelerator owners to register their cards - I bet the Blizzard 1230-IV outsold the PPCs by 10:1!
:-)
-
@ DJBase:
I didn't say there was a problem.
I'm not flaming or bashing them for the request of this information. I simply want to know what the purpose of this info is for.

If I may bet, and it's being hosted on amigaworld has anything to do with it, it may well be a lightly concealed market survey for releasing OS4 classic or not.
Instead of simply releasing it.
Or just as well I may be mistaken or overinfluenced by conspiracy theories :-)

amigaworld.de is not amigaworld.net

No, at least Amigaworld.net doesn't have malicious popups. :angry:

Which popups? I don't see anyone because there is none included.

Yes, there is. I'm not the only one to see them either.

First popup was a fake Windows system message. Kill that window and it launches a visual basic script. No damage done to my computer, but others less protected (Windows) may get nailed with malicous code.

Seems you dont get the point of his comment. Its in a really different context.

Of course, it will destroy your harddrive and sell your soul to the devil. Your are paranoid. Go get some real life.
-
@DJBase
No popup ads should pretend to be Windows system errors and they certainly shouldn't be launching visual basic scripts if they have anything besides harmful intentions.
Don't like me commenting? Tough, deal with it.

There is no popup ad from my side. There is a JavaScript from the counter to get some stats. This counter is used on millions of webpages. Seems nobody has any problems with that except you. Disable JavaScript or block popups and you will be fine.
If your Windows crashes of this script its more a fault of your system.
-
@redrumloa
There are no popups on that page.
I'd recommend you scan your system with Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and Spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/) before throwing accusations of malicious popups.
-
Actually, there was a popup on there when I went a few days ago to register.
I can't remember what it was, but it was a small one, about the size of this box I'm typing in now.
