Title: A3000 memory adapter problems
Post by: cv643d on October 17, 2003, 11:43:18 PM
I got this A3000 from a friend and it had this funky memory adapter for standard 72 pin sims.

It doesnt work since I get 0 fast memory reported.  Now there is some jumpers on it so I tried various settings but no sucses. I havent found any info on this hardware at all. All there is on the card is the text "J.Koob/M.Rupprecht 1996"

Now if anyone has any info on this adapter or maybe a manual I would be very glad!

Another question to: My A3000 feels super slow for some reason, working in workbench feels slow as hell (its a 030/25mhz). Tried Frontier on it, it was very slow!  is it because I dont have any fast memory?

You have what appears to be an AmiFAST3000. As I recall, only certain types of simms could be used in it. There was a thread here recently about it, but I can't recall offhand where, but it gave the specifics on the types of simms that could be successfully used with it.

Also, ensure that all the pins are in the zip ram sockets correctly, as that may also cause problems.

I dont think its an Amifast.
Check out this image of the Amifast -> http://amiga.resource.cx/gallery/AmiFast3000.jpg

They are a bit different if you compare to my pictures.

too bad :(

Sounds and looks like the one on Aminet.  Check out hard/hack/PS2_adapter.lha.

Yes that must be it!

And the jumper options where in the guide file in the archive. Lets see if I can get it to work now :)

Thanks for your support!

I tried out different simms and different jumper settings from the documentation, but couldnt get it to work..

That seems strange since it has no electronics on it.
