Title: Troika Progress Report
Post by: Mikey_C on September 12, 2005, 11:49:01 PM
Before we start...

We would firstly like to thank all those who have written emails wishing us luck with our project.   Its the enthusiasm of you, the users that drives us. Thank you!

Beta Testers
Many of you have expressed an interest in becoming a beta tester for the "Prometheus" motherboard. Rest assured, that we have been working this plan out. Please address all inquiries about beta testing to us, and not Hyperion, they have OS4 to finish, and we all need it done.

Sales/Dealers
Again, we are overwhelmed by the interest expressed by many dealers and individuals about selling our product, we apologize for not returning your emails, We haven't forgotten you, but our total focus currently is getting the new motherboard completed. Rest assured, we will be in touch.

About the "Prometheus" Board
The place to visit on September 24th, Big Bash 3 UK.
We look forward to showing you more of our design and hope many of you can see one of our prototypes at Big Bash 3 and the intro of our web site.

Perhaps this question is a bit premature, but any estimate on cost so we can start saving pennies?

I'm feeling more confident about this thing than in my previous post about it. Hope to see some details soon!

I don't know, you tell me :-?

I was just asking; Just by way of the way the news was posted, it seemed as if you were privy to the information before others, so out of curiosity I was asking if you were part of the project...

As I have admitted elsewhere, I am on an internal mailing list for Troika. Yes, you may say I am biased.
I am also very excited at the prospect of a low cost Amiga compatible board running OS4.

But do they have a license?  They go very quiet whenever anyone asks this.  Obviously some political sensitivities are involved.

This license thing has way too much mystification around it. At first it was said to be up to fulfulling some clear specifications, but later and now it seems to be pure politics, nothing else - at least methinks.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm the one currently holding the rights to Magellan.

Now I want to ask you; did you hear a peep about that before it was done? No. There was no point in announcing anything before it was done.

So why should Troika go out with any information, apart from the specifications? Why should they go out on forums, announcing wether or not they have a license? If other companies wants to do it like that, sure - more proffessional companies don't share that kind of business information. When they want to, they will go out with information. In fact, if I were in their shoes, I wouldn't have said a peep until BB3. Hit the community with massive news, smashing down like a sledgehammer.

Why not?, they knew for a fact the so-called Amiga users would lick their boots over a so-called new board. Troika look atm like a bunch of Alan "the crook" Redhouse wannabes and Amiga users should stay clear of them until they prove that they are not crooks.

My god.  Calm down.

Crooks.  Is this how you assess a company that wants to provide a product for the Amiga community.  Redhouse wanabee's maybe - but if they provide a board at a respectable price they will succeed where Redhouse failed and they will be the motherboard of choice.

Take a pill. Relax.  Chill.

When they take someone's money and provide no product then they are crooks.  Please!

Give them a chance.
