Title: tetris and clone
Post by: lionstorm on October 17, 2003, 09:36:46 AM
Hi all,
I am looking for a 2-players tetris game on amiga which I could play on os3.9.  My girlfriend got very excited playing super tetris on playstation but the psx is no more so I need to have a replacement for this.

Hmm, I remember a PD game called Super Twintris which was neat. I'm not sure about hardware/software compatibility but I played it on an A500 and an A1200 without any trouble IIRC.

It's on this old Amiga Power coverdisk. (http://amigacoverdisks.emuunlim.com/AP07.shtml)

The best 2 player tetris-alike is Super Foul Egg, which is a clone of Puyo Puyo. Its on this coverdisk (http://amigacoverdisks.emuunlim.com/AP58.shtml).

I also used to play a clone of Dr. Mario a lot many years ago, and that was utterly fantastic. I can't find that exact clone, but someone made another one, which got very good reviews here (http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=6630). Never played that one, though.

thanks, will give a try.
@xeron : this game (doktor) looks awesome !!! Cant wait to test it.
On the other hand, I tried tritus but I have to remove caches and original graphic chipset so my WB is loading very slooooow.
Tried detris3 from onyxsoft but it is too fast and it allows only one joystick, the opponent has to use the keyboard.

I am looking for Tetris as well. The ones mentioned so far look very apetising indeed! :-) I remember i downloaded one that looked okay, but ran in Workbench 4 colours (blue, white, black, etc) but ran in Workbench, which was what i liked about it. I still have it on one of my CDs i got, i downloaded it from Aminet, forgot its name but i could check it out if you like. Are you after one where you load up or a system friendly one? :-)

Regards,

I remember two WB tetris games myself.
Tertis used to be okay, but became too fast either with the 68020 28 MHz, or 68060, forgot which. :ranting:

Zetris on the other hand, used to work better and also saved high scores.

Slighty offtopic though as those don't have two player game. :whack:

doktor is great but there is a lag between pressing the fire button and the rotation of the model. It is an enhanced tetris since it includes color in addition to the model.

Tritus on Aminet is the best one IMHO - also 3 could play.
On my A4000 I must disable cache at Early Startup Menue to play it - but then its great - works on AGA.

These days you shouldn't have to read many e-mails to find an answer (http://www.female-aphrodisiac-info.com/)... :P Maybe you have a too effective spam filter.

@lionstorm,

I managed to find the tetris games in the end, but not on CD so i had to download off Aminet. Here are the links to the games:

WBTRIS_1.54.lha (http://www.aminet.net/game/wb/WBTRIS_1.54.lha)
WBTriz_v07c.lha (http://www.aminet.net/game/wb/WBTriz_v07c.lha)

I haven't managed to play WBTriz just yet cos i don't have all the requirements (XPKMaster.lib v3, Mathtrans.lib, Datatypes.lib, ASL.lib). But i have played WBTris, and that is a pretty okay game that runs in Workbench window. Made way back in 1993!

I hope i have helped you! :-)

Regards,

(Edit) Oh i forgot the first one ain't 2 player but not sure about the second one, give them a try though! :-)

One good "tetris inspired" game is Minskies Furballs aka Minskies: the abduction. Very addictive with two players.. been playing it a lot with gf recently ;)

@ pVC : got it and Minskies Furball is a fantastic game, tetris like with enhanced game play and graphics (AGA), vs mode, voices off (like ice cream in speedball2).
I never heard about it before and now I find it very good against my girlfriend even if I did not get everything (no manual).
