Title: SoftHut:Next batch of Micro A1-C boards
Post by: System on August 10, 2005, 12:54:34 PM
From Software Hut:
August 1 Update - We have received word from Eyetech that the next batch of Micro A1-C boards will be shipped the first week of September. We are taking pre-orders on this batch and highly recommend a pre-order if you want one as they will most likely be completely sold by the time they arrive. We do not bill your credit card until the units are in route from Eyetech and you can cancel at anytime and this will allow us to hold one for you.

I want this, and I will buy it. But will others buy it? This is a G3 motherboard that costs more than a PegasosII G4.

Just look here:
$875 for MicroA1 G3 600MHz at Software Hut
$749 for PegasosII G4 1GHz at GGSdata

I mean, its okay that Amiga people will buy this, but others wont... Or maybe they will? But this price is just to high for getting Amiga known for sure.

I wish Eyetech all the best!!!

@ AmiDelf

I think most people who buy the Pegasos thru retailers comes from the Amiga community.

To me there isn't any good reason to buy a Pegasos to run for example Linux on when I can do the same on a cheaper PC.

And btw, the MicroA1 has 800 MHz G3...  :-)

I bought a new Pegasos II G3 motherboard directly from Genesi for $299USD, while the G3 special was still available. :-D

I'm sorry, but if I were to get one, I sure as F*CK wouldn't want a micro.

I'd like to eventually get an XE.

Maybe someday....

@AmiDelf
Agree that the pricing is a bit high compared with the Pegasos2.
The µA1 comes with OS4, and it remains to be seen how much the OS4 will cost, when it's done.
Maybe it will make up the price-difference then.
