1. I refuse to use AmiKit until it comes with a built-in HippoPlayer.

2. Am I allowed to use AmiKit on my real Amiga?

3. Question: Why did you choose SimpleMail over YAM?

4. The screenshoots -look- great.

@ChaosLord

1. as you wish my (chaos)lord :)

2. ofcourse, but that would need some      modifications... I am not the owner of the "real" thing anymore, so if you want to be a volunteer that makes the necessary changes in order to make AmiKit compatible with "real" Amigas, please leave me a private message.

3. just a screenshot, YAM is included as well it's up to user what to choose

4. thanks :)

Does that mean "Yes, I will add HippoPlayer just 4 u"?  :-)

I find HippoPlayer to be the most reliable modplayer.  The coder even fixed the tfmx replay routines for me when I told him they were causing lost bytes over the serial port.  Though I never tested the alleged fix because I switched my miggy to DSL.

I remember I have registered HippoPlayer long time ago and it was my best player too! I'll check it whether it works fine under emulation...

Man, Hippoplayer was an absolute gem of a proggy - I believe it runs great on anything; from a 512k A500 right upto the fast UAE emulation - those were the days.  Sure, the interfaces looked like a dog's dinner, but they were so bloody responsive and the software itself was a solid as a rock.

Anyway, enough nostalgia for one day - back to skinning WinXP to look like a Mac...lol.

Well, screenshots look great. BUT:

A) What i reeeealy want to see is a package with THEMES! All these look okay but they are very dissapointing when installed (like AIAB...). I want a descent installer where you can pick from a thumbnail (wich will turn in to full screenshot when clicked) the theme you like! Or even a prog inside WB to pick up a Ready-to-use theme! No more do-it-yourself. Too many programms to start all over to get a descent theme...  :-o

B) I would also like to be able to use those themes READY in my amiga (if i have of course a gfx card etc.)  :-D

I would also like to see this package (if it is the way i described above) in the stores. Where people could buy online a "theme-ready" WB for their UAE and their Real Amiga. Looks veery cool in the screenshots but it will take about a DAY to make it look like this after installation in default mode  :pissed:

@Animagic

:kitty:
yes, I know exactly what you have in mind... However I am not a factory if you know what I mean, I am just a human with other duties that are more important with regards to my surviving in this world, you know. AmiKit and I would say the whole Amiga is just a hobby (IMHO for most of the users)...
But like I reacted to some other comment, if you consider yourself capable of creating such a theme creator/selector to AmiKit, feel free to contact me!!! I'd be happy! amikit at gmail com

Next, I do not think that it would take a DAY to make the default installation of WB look like AmiKit, but anyway the visual look is NOT the only thing you need to make good compilation... :-)

Ahm...

I do indeed have absolutely NO idea on programming.
The fact is that if this package goes out with default theme installation like AIAB, well it will be another aiab. nothing more.
I do appreciate that you started a hobby project, and we all need that in order to keep using amiga stuff, but if you are going to do it, do it the right way. A descent installer is something that it is mising form all these packages and the first who creates one gets the "market". This is what it will make your package differ form the others. The easy of use  :-)
I also believe that most of us could wait a week or two more if we want this feature. Try making some ready to use themes. I promise you that you wont regret it  :-D

hehe, I wish it was so easy... Ofcourse you can wait for week or two but what about me? Like I said I do not have unlimited amount of time :nervous:

But, ok ok, I promise, there's gonna be some theme selector or something... (it seems I'm not able to say NO, gosh!  :roll: heh)

Hehe seems not  :-D
I am glad you decided this. At last we can have some "theme loading" (maybe saving too? - doooon't push iiiit...  :lol: )

I am with you (by thinking, I cannot do anything more than that  :-P  )

First, I apologise to gwlxxx for possibly hijacking the thread, but I believe AmigaSYS offers some kind of multi-theme switching (through an interface).  Furthermore, there was a website out there not so long ago that offered software in the form of batch scripts that achieved something approaching your description.

As for AIAB's different theme styles, you're right, it could be easier, but for the nostalgic amongst us, take a look at how the AIAB default interface has changed over the past few years.  Note that all of the old styles are still included in the latest package.

(http://img323.imageshack.us/img323/7917/aiabthemes8bv.png)

In my opinion, the latest 'look' is the best, however I know some folks prefer the older XEN interface, whereas others prefer no UI modifications whatsoever!

Cheers, take it easy!

Good news, AmiKit supports a load/save theme functionality. Every theme consits of background picture, palete, font and sound setings. Some selector changing the VisualPrefs buttons and Birdie background is being prepared...
