Wondering how it's going with the AmigaOpenOffice project ?
Now you can stop wondering since Christophe Ochal will be at the fair for a Q&A regarding the porting and progress of OpenOffice for OS4.

Amiga Open Office Project.
If you tell me there will be an office suite to use on OS4 then Hyperion need to look at bundling it on the OS4 CD/DVD or whatever!
Works great on Linux. Another reason to dump Linux & Windoze to go OS4.

It might just be, but not for awhile. Long while, aka not on the AOS Final Release CD.
It's a big project, lots of supporting and build items need to be ported first. Which is well under way.
If you can make it to Boinged, you'll get to hear all about it. There is also something for AmiGBG being talked about. Plus there is going to be an article for AmiGBG.

FINALLY! Bloatware for the small foot print OS!
Better than nothing I guess.
-
Don't worry, You won't be required to use it.
There is always Papyrus. To each his own.
-
I still wonder how on Earth they can be thinking to pull off a port of OpenOffice with so much alien and unportable Unixy stuff in it.

Ahem, no problem, same experiences with porting mozilla :-D

AmigaOS has it's roots in Unix. However - you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
Bloated - maybe. But this kind of software makes migration from other OS's more accessible and possible.
If I didn't have OO on Linux I would be forced to use either Mac or Windows. When it comes to buying dedicated hardware for OS4, I wouldn't even consider it without adequate & suitable software.

@Cymic
We migth fail in porting the hole OOo package, but so far aspell has been ported so if we stop know its has not been a lose.
Personaly I'm I trying to port libusb to os4 so thats one more util.
Yes we know how big OOo is but there is only one way to deal with it and that is to take it one step at a time.

Magic-Merl: Correction: Amiga has its roots in TripOS...
...which seems to have its roots in Unix sort of.
Of course we got a MUCH better directory structure, and of course you don't have to be a rocket scientist to operate it.
-
Better directory structure? How so? I've never had complaints about unix. In fact I like the longer filenames.
Why not this open software for OS 3.9?
I always said the C portability was a bit of a distortion-- otherwise 68K<-->PPC porting would be a lot easier.
