This is getting ridiculous, this is not a birthday offer or anything anymore, we have to start counting the DAYS between each "free shipping" offer from Elbox, it's almost a constant situation. It's not bad but it's almost certainly illegal.

In that event I'll keep my eyes opened for the "Owner's in the Pokey" Elbox sale event.

Is this really illegal in your country? If so, commercial advertising must really be frowned upon. :-?

Why would it be illegal to have a sale or offer free shipping?

Speaking as a native of the UK and the EU (Of which Poland is a member state), I can assure everyone that it is not illegal.

Quite why anyone would think otherwise is beyond my comprehension.

Because it's a dirty method to get better than the competition. It's not as if they are making an offer    every once in a while, they almost always have something to celebrate, and so almost always have free shipping. Most Elbox related items I've seen in   the past few months have to do with free shipping.
It's not illegal in Greece even, it's on a borderline Telemarketers use all the time (eg. call during 15 minutes and the item will be shipped for free. Message repeated every 15 minutes;-))

Elbox isn't calling me up and interrupting my dinner pitching a free trip to Zimbabwe. They're celebrating something legitimate. If they want to have a sale for Christmas in July that's their prerogative. If other companies can't compete that's their problem, not Elbox's.

Make their sales pitch illegal and you'll be creating a law that single-handedly criminalizes just about every marketing department in the civilized world. It ain't gonna happen.

Besides, there are bigger problems to be concerned over than a company finding a somewhat strange reason to be offering free shipping. ;-)

There's nothing bad about free shipping offers. But is it only me thinking that Elbox is using these offers every week for getting a news entry for publicity and free advertisment? Same with their website entry here -- editing it once in a while to reappear at the top of the recent links section.

So, does this mean every other competitor should come up with a however-silly or ridiculous special offer once a week to stay in the news, dilluting the actual news entries?

I remember a while back, several carpet & furniture companies (the sort always advertising a new sale on TV) got taken to court by Trading Standards for this sort of practise.
I`m not saying Elbox are breaking any laws cos I dunno about EU law, but in the UK there is a limit on how long you can class it as a sale.

If memory serves correctly in the UK you are required to have two full weeks without a sale, effectively to stop these carpet and furniture places having a permanent sale. However normally someone has to complain to trading standards for something to happen and considering how few sellers of Amiga materials there are left it would be a bit silly of someone to make that complaint.
