Anachronism Industries is pleased to announce an agreement has been reached with Individual Computers to provide Prometheus drivers for the upcoming Catweasel MK4! Drivers will be free to Prometheus owners.
The Prometheus is available now (http://www.amiga.org/banners.php?op=click&bid=61) for the unbelievably low price of $139, worldwide shipping is available! The Catweasel MK4 has a ETA of Q4, 2004 and will also be available in volume from Anachronism Industries.

And a very well done to both Anachronism Industries and Individual Computers. :-)
-
Some people asked for Amithlon drivers: It seems that these are OpenPCI drivers that should (according to Jens) also work under Amithlon.

@redrumloa
Well done. :-D I hope this works out well for the Prometheus owners. :pint:

Your news was like a breath of fresh air after I saw the fallout to Jens Schönfeld's announcement about the Catweasel MK4 on ann.lu ...

That is very good news.:banana: :elvis: :afro: :pint:
(That urge I had since childhood to build a maxed Amiga-tower is becoming irresistible)
-
Good to see, but Jim, you're following the Elbox model! What's up with that? I'm assuming the driver will be closed source. . . .
-
@Trev
I don't know what you mean? The driver will be available free of charge to Prometheus users. Open source? Probably not, but that's Individual Computer's IP, not mine. Not my call to make.
-
Hmmm. OK. I'll give you a pass for not charging for the driver. ;-) If the driver is being written to the native Prometheus SDK, then it makes sense for Jens to keep it closed source. But. . . . Why not just write it to OpenPCI and satisfy everyone at the same time? And I should be making these comments via email and not on a board. D'oh! :-)
Edit: I do see how having Prometheus support enhances the market for both products, but in its current state, the Amiga market isn't exactly general purpose. Hobbyists like to tinker. . . .

@redrumloa
Are paying them to do the drivers? Or are you doing the drivers yourself?
-
@weirdami
Individual Computers is doing the driver, we are not doing it inhouse.
-
I agree... good move Red and jens!

Great to see guys!

@redrumloa
So, you're paying them to do it (for your customers), or did you just convince them to do it, with your cult of personality? :-)
Either way, it's cool beans.

@weirdami
I played the Beatles White album backwards and chanted a satanic spell of compliance;-)

Is the Mk IV going to be another Flipper design? I.e. Z3 and PCI combined?
-
@odin
No, the Flipper interface has been dropped. The MK4 will be PCI only. Classic Amiga users still have 2 options.
1) The Catweasel S-Class/Buddha (Zorro) is still available (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4598&item=4133715528&tc=photo).
2) May use the MK4 in conjunction with the Prometheus (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4598&item=5109684048&tc=photo) PCI busboard.
