I do sincerely wish I could go this year, it's simply not in the cards.  I will look forward to Tekmage's broadcast.

Without intending to start a war, what I would REALLY love is the opportunity to sit down with Bill McEwen, either on, or off the record and discuss what's REALLY up with Amiga Incorporated.

I'm planning on broadcasting the banquet so you can attend virtually if you like.  Also I spoke to Garry today by phone and he will be joining me on Sunday morning for an interview.  Should be a good time.  Check out ugn.amiga.org for more details.

LOl, we should at least let the man speak before labing him the second comming of Jeff Schindler.  I still remember the "valley" speech :)

As far as I know Garry has said nothing about the future of the Amiga or what he and KMOS plan to do.  Now after AmiWest if you want to roast him for wanting to "save" the Amiga, go for it... :p

:: SIGH::

What did I take from this announcement? Well it's obvious the "official" Amiga desert is Rasberry Drizzle.. How appropriate..

Does anyone know how to make Raspberry Drizzle?

is the recipe:

One Part New CEO
One Part New Company Name
two parts same old hype??

I was considering a trip to AmiWest but it doesn't look very productive to me.. Besides I like Strawberries for desert over raspberries..

I am not trying to be mean, but until we actually see movement what does it mean for anyone to come to the table (especially a dinner table)..

I think in terms of influence that action speaks louder than words, and only time will tell.. Otherwise it's all "raspberry drizzle"..

Good morning,

I had given prior warning regarding this thread having veered terribly off topic.  Despite my warning, people continued to lead everything astray, leading to direct insults in spite of our posting guidelines.

This left me no choice but to literally moderate the hell out of this thread, since news posts can't be locked (dunno why, oversight on Xoops part I think).  Unfortunately due to the way that Xoops works, a few innocent threads were accidentally killed as well.  For that, and to the posters of those innocent posts, I truly apologize.

This thread's topic is the fact that Garry Hare will be speaking at AmiWest.  Nothing more.  It is not about trashing other sites, it is not about trashing Amiga Inc, Hyperion, Genesi, or anyone else.

Personally speaking, I'm not suggesting blindly placing Garry Hare on a pedestal (I've pretty much run out of pedestals where the Amiga community is concerned).  I would like to hear what he has to say and whether it has any relevance on the situation BEFORE casting judgment.

Then let me just repeat my central point, and on topic: it doesn't matter to me what Hare says, I expect it to be a tissue of lies and see KMOS only as an investor shell game to protect Amiga Inc assets from debtors.

Fair enough.  You're entitled to your viewpoint.  I prefer to see action than to hear more words, but I don't know Garry Hare, so I will be more open-minded until I hear what he's got to say at Amiwest.

Do I "expect" anything?  No.  Am I willing to listen?  Sure.

Let's face it. After 8 years of neglect, the Amiga and community has no where to go but up.  I just wish they'd open source the whole AmigaOS project, but that's useless dreaming.

(From the perspective of a Web developer, I could actually get behind and support a real open source project).

well if Garry Hare is going to AmiWest, he must be more of an Amiga geek than he was at first letting on to be...there is no reason to be at AmiWest, unless you are an amiga cultist

personally I still find that endearing and charming, and his presence is far more important than anything he says or promises, which at this point, I think most people find promises, plans, directions, goals, as being mostly meaningless.

I can't speak for every troll, but this is one troll that's not really interested in Bill McE. any more.
