THE US GOVERNMENT has sent out a warning out to internet users through its Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT), pleading users to stop using Microsoft's Internet Explorer.
The full link is here theinquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=16922)

Wow! Is this a first?
-
They're kind of pleading with the wrong group, though. Most of the people alert enough to read CERT already know and understand security risks -- especially ones as obvious as Internet Explorer.
-
You people are aware that The Inquirer is a Fantasy magazine and most of the stuff printed there are made up?
Don't ever believe anything that magazine says. They seem to thrive on making people believe far out stories, although the one about Internet Explorer could easily be reality at any given time.

Well, this story is also on CBS Marketwatch (http://cbs.marketwatch.com/news/story.asp?guid=%7B7D91FC13-9FA9-4703-B000-10000DAA78DD%7D&siteid=google&dist=google), so if we got duped, so did some others. ;-)
(To be honest, *I* haven't been as alert in reading CERT stuff as I should be...)
-
Now if only they would issue such a warning to the populace at large... ;-)
-
The story is true, but they fail to mention the other 5 workarounds suggested for this particular problem. The quoting in the article makes it sound much worse than it is. Obviously a piece of impartial journalism.
-
I think there's 2 different publications. Enquirer and Inquirer. I don't know if either is a real news source, but one of them is definately a tabloid.
-
Enquirer is a tabloid.
What a great story hahahaha :-D

BBC already published an article outlining new security holes in IE even with all the patches and hotfixes.
Microsoft's offical response to users so far has been: turn off javascript.
Yeah...thanks.
-
Even more safely, turn off any Intel computer. And use an Amiga, of course.
