And if you get lonely, Auburn Blvd is also a great place to cruise for prostitutes. ;-) OK, it's not quite that bad, and the hotel is new and clean. Just don't walk the streets at night if you're not familiar with the area.

ROTFL...now we know where you'll be ;-)

I hope the area isnt that bad! I still cant wait for the show! JKD has our booth been reserved yet?
-
It's not too bad. This portion of Auburn Blvd runs adjacent to the business 80 loop, and there are a number of hourly rate hotels along that strip. It's not uncommon to see women "waiting for a ride." The surrounding area is mostly low income housing. The upside is that there are a number of safe night spots just a few minutes away. That said, you probably won't be shot walking to your car. :-) Please note, however, that I was carjacked (at gunpoint) about one mile from here. I'm really not trying to scare anyone away. Treat it like any other unfamiliar city. Use a bit of common sense, keep your wits about you, and don't walk to your car alone.
-
Yup...good to go!
-
I treat every place I visit like that...and I've lived in Sacramento for 6 years now ;-)

I've been here for about 20 years. . . . And I haven't been to AmiWest yet. In fact, the only Amiga-related event I've been to was a Video Toaster 4000 demo in San Francisco (11 years ago?). Chatted with Wil Wheaton (while my girlfriend flirted with him) and drooled over Kiki. Speaking of NewTek, was the Screamer ever released? They did a great spiel about a box with "the rendering power of forty Amigas!" Sounded pretty kick-ass in 1993.
-
Yeah, and I live at 1060 West Addison Street in Chicago, IL
:-D
-
The Screamer was never released, Newtek ported Lightwave 3D to Dec Alpha, Mips, Intel and PPC based systems instead.
Best regards
