Hello,

I have been gathering compatible hardware for quite some time to make an Amithlon machine.  I have got a hold of a NIC card, which works great with amithlon.  I got the Geforce 2 MX which is native to it.  Just yesturday, I bought a SB128 with the CT5880 chipset. According to sites, this should work with Amithlon under AHI.  I tried to  use it, but nothing gets played back.  Is there some other options that I have to setup?

I was also wondering.  How compatible and efficient is Amithlon. I don't play any AGA related games or anything of ECS.  I just do all of the workbench stuff.  Is there known problems of Amithlon that I will run into and can't do anything about?

I never could get sound to work with Amithlon using different sound cards, motherboards etc.

If you can get networking, video and audio working, than almost all workbench apps should be fine.

Amithlon with proper updates is rock solid and have kick ass preformance.

I used it for almost 2 years now.

It could be various reasons why you dont get any output.

Could you post an "pciscan" of your system ?

You might also look for ac97 mixer and make sure the channel is not "muted".

It depends on what you're doing. If, for example, you wish to run mp3s, it should run through AHI. If you're using OctaMED, you'll have to run the Puh de Baer switch, in the Amithlon Dir,  to make it emulate the Paula. It's flawless on my 1.4mhz machine.

I haven't had ANY problems with my Amithlon box, except with the CD player. I have AC97 on my mobo, but I couldn't trigger the CDPlayer. I had to install my SB128 and then use the AC97Mixer (which didn't like my version of the CODEC) to unmute the channel, then pull the SB card out.

Now, too bad the floppies don't work. =^\

I have a question about Amithlon, I have it booting from the disk, can you actually install it on a HDD? and how? I noticed the OS 3.9 install folder on Amiga XL, but I'm not sure how to setup the HDD if that's how it works.
