AmigaOS 4.0 is arriving through letter boxes all over the world!
On June 3rd 2004, the first AmigaOS 4.0 pre-release CD's (http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=4899&forum=14)have started to reach end users. This marks the end of a long wait for over 1000 AmigaONE owners.
Congratulations to Hyperion and all involved in bringing this about, and continuing the survival of the Amiga platform! The Pre-release is a major mile stone.
It has also been confirmed that the Pre-release will be shipping with all new AmigaOne purchases.

Thanks. Oh I will give detailed minute by minute reports and later on a full report (no one wants to wait 1/2 weeks for a report). And whatever more is needed.
Only prob is that I am in Thailand and my cd is not in the mail yet. The fastest I ever got something from Holland (location dealer) is 1 week. But that was in Bangkok. Now I am somewhere in the jungle and I am sure it will ad some days to the sending. If it does get out today/tomorrow it could arrive next weekend. I think this is not the right time to say that sometimes I waited for 3 weeks for something to arrive.

I agree that it would be nice to read an unbiased review, but can that really happen? I mean, can you really be unbiased if you've been waiting for this day for something like 10 years? ;-)
I'm almost disappointed by the release, because I was so close to giving up on the Amiga, and now I'm there waiting for it to happen again... I got better things to do ya know! :-x

I know it doesnt have anything to do directly with OS 4.0 arriving but anyone knows of how to reach Consultron, I need to get in touch with them...

I can't promised a detailed review (too lazy) but I'll certainly give
you an unbiased comparison to MorphOS.
Unfortunately the CD has yet to arrive, so my A1 remains a seldom used
linux machine, sat next to the telly downstairs.

Would like to see an image of these CDs and any documentation or manuals they put together. Wilse, a comparison to MorphOS is a rather charged way to start out, are you a Pegasos owner then? If you do it this way you should really be careful to play it straight and tell us about the negatives as well as the positives.

MorphOS and AmigaOS4 are surely both good products. Sure you see some things on one of them that you might dislike or is better on the other. If not then you would have 2 identical products. The problem is that on both sides are some bad seeds. Really bad. They come up with every stupid thing they can to discredit the other. But apart from them MOS and AmigaOS users are a fun bunch of people. I hope people see this too and don't let them get caught by those bad seeds.
Ohh and before I here people caughing, yes Aros people are a bunch of nice people too.

Yes, I have a Pegasos; I'm typing this on it.
I also have an AmigaOne.
Of course I'm going to compare AmigaOS to MorphOS.
It would be a lot stranger if I din't. :-)

we can now ignore them. and I suggest that we all do so immediately.
"Amiga" means friend. and while it's normal for friends to disagree sometimes, at this point I will not stand for people acting like idiots.
I've had it with that kind of behavior!
I'm excited about this CD and wait for all reviews! and, yes, I want to see comparisons between it and MOS!

I hope i will be able to sell my old amiga stuff with all the amigaone owners getting there cd,s theres going to be a load of of people selling ppc cards and a1200 stuff i bet the price will go down .if anyone wants a ppc 200 with 040@25mhz and blizzard vision with all original boxes and receipts from white knight the dearest place for amiga hardware then let me know i will sell for 180 including postage have owned from new will give pictures to anyone that is interested ppc card has 160meg of ram . Does not have scusi interface. uk only :-o

Don't worry if you are in the UK, and it hasn't come yet. If the postal system grinds to a halt sending out a few ballot papers extra in the mail, something like a CD may take...ooh, about half a year.

Many thinks that I am against AmigaOS 4.0 because I bought myself a PegasosII. Thats silly. I bought it because it is out, and its given me lots of good things. Infact, MorphOS is the ultimate AmigaOS for me. And when it comes to AmigaOS v4.0 - The marked needs it. We need competition. Thats what makes things go arround. It makes people develope better things etc.
I will offcourse get AmigaOS v4.0 when MicroA1 is out. That will be a day when I will compare these 2 OS's.
Amiga is no more as it was. Now we just have to accept whats going to be. And by having both PegasosII and MicroA1. I feel that I am supporting both sides and that gives me the kick to continue supporting Amiga.
