Thanks to the works of Massimo Tantignone and Elena Novaretti, PowerIcons has been ported to AmigaOS 4.0.
Two screenshots can be seen here (http://www.hyperion-entertainment.com/powericonsnap1.png) and here (http://www.hyperion-entertainment.com/powericonsnap2.png)
PowerIcons for AmigaOS 4.0 supports all the features of the original version, including Alpha blending for Icons.

Looking good, anyone want to buy me an amiga one then?
-
WOW!:-o Very Cuuuuuute Icons!! :-D
Good day to all Amigans! :-D
-
Yeah, but I keep thinking Gnome evertime I see PowerIcons screenshots. It needs it's own unique icon set. Something that makes it stand out, so that when I look at it I think "That's Amiga!".
-
Well you are slowly catching up to MorphOS! heh. It does look good though. Now yo need a custom set for Amiga. KDE and Gnome sets are all over.
-
very nice indeed!!!

Sure, send your wife here and we will negotiate it at the beach? :-o
-
Excellent news!
-
Argh! I just "hate" it when people do not obey the community/userbase/platform split! :-(
:-D      :-D

Wish there were more.

finally system looking ok!
-
Good thing... anyone know if the icons will be draggable ?
-
?
-
Looks good! Great work!
:pint:

Yes. They will drag as PNG icons, with full transparency and all.
-
IMHO
The Power Icons look great.
They dont look like a Mac and they surely don't remind me of Winbloze.
again.... IMHO.
When can I expect a copy????
-
rouge: AWESOME

Check this guys:

GREAT job by Elena and Massimo . . . as usual :-)

Sure, as there are mostly KDE icons on the screenshots :-)
-
Will they have a second state like the Amiga Icons or they will just become dark or glowing when clicked?
-
They will just glow when clicked. Thats how all these work so far.
-
acill: u are wrong :) , aros has dual images allready and it seems os4 will have aswell (under powericons) but heh... when is another thing...
anyway i am looking forward to test this :-)
-
Am well impressed. Those OS4 screens look absolutely awesome.
What are the chances of the patch being available with the end retail version of OS4, or even being integrated into future releases of our beloved OS?
Over to you, Sir Rogue....

@ PMC
Great Idea.
PNG icon support out of the box would be great. This has been discussed before and Hyperion have probably heard about it,.
-

Very slowly without an os to use them with . :-(
-
Complimenti! :-D
-
No its only one problem, they are all ugly and boring.
The ones ikir linked looks better, I have never like folder icons though :-)
Drawers!!!!!
-
i think you are missing a point here. having the ABILITY to use png icons is a good thing. the User decides WHICH PNG icons appear on his/her wb.
-
Great Work! :)
-
;-) Even if these are from another platform, I like the style. Although drawer images might be preferable to folders.
:pint: - And welcome to Amiga.org, JThomas. The first one's on me....

Cecilia . . .i love you :-)
I totally agree
Those and only those is the point! PowerIcons will be present as "Contribution" so, if you like use it otherwise . . .
Ciao

Although drawer images might be preferable to folders.
We could use both, drawers for the root dir of each program ie ImageFX and folders for the dirs inside of it ie images etc. ;-)
-
Cecilia . . .i love you
 thank you! I love you too!
I totally agree
as an artist i feel it's my "job" to see the 'big picture' and keep people focused on that, instead of nitpicking about unimportant issues.
sure, there are icons i don't like the look of...... mostly windows icons! i like alot of linux-style icons because they are FUN.
while it's important to have an "amiga Look", it's also important to understand that having an amiga means the user has total control over their system and can create their own personal look.
and THAT'S what we want from a computer and why most of us have stayed loyal to amiga - in whatever form it takes! :-D
-
I don't know if the purpose of these shots is to show new "icon package" as part of the OS or the ability to use multi-color PNG icons with transparency support.
I welcome the second option! I, for so long, recommended support for true-color/transparent icons. Glad to see it happen.
To get decent icon-set, it won't cost much to pay for Everaldo (http://everaldo.com)'s services; His work speaks for itself:
http://everaldo.com/splashs/crystal-svg-apps.html
http://everaldo.com/splashs/crystal-svg-mimetypes.html
http://everaldo.com/splashs/kde3.html
http://everaldo.com/splashs/yast2-all.html
http://everaldo.com/splashs/yast2-instaler.html
I strongly recommend him.

@SimoAmi:
Those icons are definitely very professional-looking, but aren't they a bit big? I mean, I don't intend running my system at 2048x1536 all the time...
OBTW, I've never used PNG icons before. Are they just .png files, or are they "real" icons with tooltypes, etc?
-
Are they just .png files, or are they "real" icons with tooltypes
both.
you make them in a paint program. save them as PNG. name them "blah.info"
they magically become icons.
if you open "Information" on these icons, you can change the tool types in there.
on MOS if I want to use an icon as a drawer, I create a dir and (re)name the icon the name of the dir. (I assume it works the same on an amiga with powericons)
simple.

Not an issue really! This guy can design icons in any given size. Take a look:
http://everaldo.com/splashs/sigma.html
Also, in windows and mac systems, icons are stored in different sizes and color depths in the same file. e.g. 16x16/32x32/64x64.
That makes me think, why not have an upgraded icon file structure, with same file extension and backward compatiblity !!
-
All the purple-tinted ones are from the gentoo lila theme, thats why the printers are printing gentoo logo's :-D
What licence is PowerIcons released under?
