The German languaged Amiga portal Amiga-News.de contacted Hyperion to confirm that the AmigaOS 4.0 Developer Pre-release will come bundled with newly sold Amiga systems when available.
Customers who acquire an AmigaOne before the publication of the final version of AmigaOS 4 will receive the same support and the same entrance to (on-line available) updates as "Earlybird" owners will be granted. They get the full version of Amiga OS4 delivered subsequently by their dealer, as soon as the finished version is available.

Cool! I guess OS4 is now as released as MOS is. No matter the stamp on the CD it's now going to be available to anyone who spends the money. I'm looking forward to the reviews of OS 4.
I guess this also means that OS4 will be available at AmiWest through this program, GA or no.

Hmmm....it's a good initiative, I like it - people finally getting some value out of their A1 investment.
I imagine people will wait for the reviews to surface. I surely hope to see some systems at Amiwest with OS4 this year...hopefully a vendor has some on sale???

Now where'd I put those coupons? :lol:

This is the best choiche IMHO...

A great step in the right direction. Now if we can just buy enough to get the price down.

I couldn't agree more. I REALLY want one and a Peg II, but the Peg is more in my price range. Still, should I get that wonderful, high-paying job, I suppose I'll pick up both. :-P

Its a good idea at least you can use the machine for what you bought it for . :-)
-
Dunno if it's a good idea.... they say it's still beta.
-
Why should it not be a good thing? I mean its not like they sell a beta version as the real thing, they admit that its a prerelease so nobody will expect the features/stability of the final version.

@rayt
Maybe... but as someone has said, you can only cause a first impression once...

I have a strong feeling that the people who spent money on the AmigaOne board will be happy to run Amiga dos and be very forgiving on any flaws in the pre-release. I'm hopeful that Eyetech will not seize this pre-release and begin marketing the system to a larger audience who might not have the same level of tolerance as the Amiga faithful who purchased the boards already. I would expect some of those faithful who have not yet bought an A1 to seriously considering doing so now.

Now we know, that invention came from the time when in reality there was nothing to show. On the first occasion there was something to show OS4 immediately was on Tour, and now it is out as beta. I think it's much healthier now.
