Hoya!

I agree. Even if I have been glad to see a Demo of OS4 several weeks ago, I am becoming more and more upset...

Come on OS4! Give MOS a REAL competition!!! :-E

How many people are working on it anyway? Two?

Hyperion is not responsible for the terminology used by third parties.

At the very least what we will shown there is a more advanced version of the "Developer Pre-release".

Developer seed?

Pre-gold beta?

Call it what you will....It's just names after all.

When the 'beta seed' is out to the 'earlybird' guys then people should talk..

Until there's a product it's all just talk.  :-D

Even if OS4 were released sometime soon there is not way it is *Real competition for Morphos. As a Morphos user I can tell you it is very advanced and feels very "amiga like" I had an A4000T PPC with CVPPC and it was slow as heck in comparision. I ended up selling it because I never used it.

For a review I wrote a while back as well as downloadable videos of Pegasas/Morphos in action ( Even though its a Peg1 and Mos 1.3) go to

www.magneticsystemsnyc.com

enjoy

Could a moderator please remove this comment? It's completely off topic (it bears no connection to the topic "OS 4 event in Essen (Germany)" and is just a shameless plug for someone selling pegasos systems.

Thank you.

I think you're asking on the wrong site, Rogue. This site is for open discussion.

Contrary to what you might believe, I am not against discussion. Quite the contrary, if things stay in a decent tone, a good discussion is something that I can enjoy.

However, Magnetic's comment was completely off-topic, a shameless plug/advertisement, and a flamebait. The topic is (unless you don't need topics at all) "AmigaOS4 Event in Essen (Germany)".

I was recently moderated for "dragging MorphOS into a discussion about the OS 4 version of Gorky 17". If I am treated this way, I think it is only fair to expect that others are treated the same way. Otherwise there goes your "open discussion".

Your comment was equally offensive, since it implies that I have any sort of influence on what is moderated on AmigaWorld.net. I never have, and never will, excert any pressure on anyone to moderate a comment. However, I will reserve the right to point out comments that I feel are inappropriate. I found Magnetic's comment to be inappropriate for the reasons mentioned above. I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

If Magnetic wants to discuss this topic, he's free to open a forum thread and name it "Why OS 4 cannot be a competition for MorphOS", or "My great website". However, since it does not bear any relevance to a show in Essen which is exclusively about OS 4, I asked the moderators to remove the comment.

Unless, of course, you want to imply that "open discussion" on Amiga.org means to speak against AmigaOS 4 or not at all. In that case, I might as well shut up.

Rogue:
Magnetic can be annoying with his "Hard Sell", but that's hardly "offensive". a PITA, maybe.
the best way to deal with that is ignore it.
anyway, he can't help being that way. he wakes up in the morning and yells, "sell, sell, sell"

what DOES excite me is that i (finally) was able to get on that site and see "There are five AmigaOnes available" for play!  :-D
So this is not a situation where we just get to look at one from afar!
So far that's the only way I've seen OS4.  :-(
I really want people to go and report back - I'D like to know how it's coming along.
On the NovaDesign site, Kermit has put up screen shots of ImageFX working on Os4. and that is Very Good News!
Yippy! Things are moving along!!

On most shows where I was present up to now I let people play with my AmigaOne.. Proves I'm not a coward ;-)

@Rogue:

You're getting too sensitive mate! ;-)

M A D brought up OS4 giving MOS competition and Magnetic responded.

I don't see ought wrong with it.

Anyway, please keep up the efforts.
I'm typing this on my A1, (as my Peg is upstairs) on a hideous display in linux which doesn't agree with me at all.
I desperately want my beta.  :pissed:

Hoya!

My point was: when it comes to OS4, it is only "Beta", "Demo", "pre-pre-prerelease" etc...

While it seems that MOS is quite advanced, I just meant that I was p*ssed off and a bit sad that OS4, TO ME, is more of a fantasy than something else at the moment.

So, it was some kind of message to the OS4 team and to the MOS flamer.
If you want to bash OS4, fair enough.
BUT wait for it to reach the same state as MOS first!
You cannot compare the blueprint of a product A?ND a finished product, it is a nonsense.

I did not mean to flame or troll, I guess I was probably ranting... :-/

And to answer magnetic, NO, I do not want to buy a pegasos. I want to see an AONE running MORE than a "Beta" version of OS4 first. I like to have choice, that's all :-)

Be funky
