Slashdot now has a thread on REXX's 25th birthday and some links to the 15th REXX symposium.
Read it here (http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/03/24/0034224)

check out the comments about halfway down the page when they start talking about arexx on the amiga....
remember the good old days?
I know some programmers don't care for arexx, but it was simple enough for me to make some scripts. so it had it's use!

Yep. Does what it needs to, is relatively easy to pick up, and has extremely low overhead.
Silly slashdot ;-)

Hoya!
Yeah, although I can't program, I do like it.
It is so good it should have been an Amiga invention! ;-)
Happy birthday Rexx! :pint:

ARexx rules, and we all know it. Without ARexx there would have been no VideoToaster, ImageFX, nor many of the other apps we all know and love.
There are a few differences between proper Rexx and ARexx, but from what I'm told Rexx is fairly portable. Maybe we can see a next generation of Rexx through Regina on the open-source OS's.
Will be glad when the PPC implimentation of ARexx is finished for MorphOS :-P

Author (http://www2.hursley.ibm.com/mfcsumm.html)
The author of Rexx is voted as Bill Gates look alike from IBM (when he was young). There is a joke about the name: Tyranosaurus Rex, because first version run on old IBM mainframes.

I still like ARexx for doing scripts on my A2000HD. :-D
