The dynamics of the Amiga market has changed forever. Gone are the days Amiga users will have to pay exorbitant prices to expand their computers. Today I am please to announce Anachronism Industries has purchased all rights and remaining stock of the Prometheus from Matay.
The first phase of this transaction is to reintroduce the excellent Prometheus PCI bus board. The retail price has been drastically slashed 45% to $175! The Prometheus is available exclusively at Anachronism Industries (http://www.anachronismindustries.com/page4.html) . Shipping starts March 12, order now and get free US shipping, international customers pay only a flat $10 shipping!
This is only the beginning! We are also pleased to announce new driver development is underway, details will follow shortly. There is much more to come!
About the Prometheus:
The Prometheus was introduced in 2001 as the first PCI solution for the Amiga 3000 and Amiga 4000. The Prometheus is the only bus board to have pledged support by both the AmigaOS4 and MorphOS teams. The Prometheus has a very comprehensive, open and free developer kit. It’s a high quality made product which gained good opinions from its users. Its full potential is to be unleashed in the near future, stay tuned!
About Anachronism Industries:
Anachronism Industries was formed in 2003 is based out of Pompano Beach, FL USA with the intention of providing quality solutions to alternative computing markets at previously unheard of aggressive prices.
About Matay:
Matay is a polish company formed in 2000 based in Warsaw, Poland. On the local market known as a software and hardware dealer while for many Amiga users worldwide it’s known as a hardware manufacturer who made "Prometheus" PCI busboard for Zorro3 Amiga systems and is also recognized as an AmigaDE games developer.
-
Ya know, that's actually affordable.
-
@Red, what's your connection to all this? You a dealer??? Just curious.
- Mike
-
GREEEEEAAAATTT!!!!!!!
@downix
Well, I disagree. It might have been bought for next to nothing(or maybe not...), but the fact still remains that this is the first time after a long period that a company (or an individual -redrumloa) makes an bussiness investment on the amiga market. This made my day! :-D
Can we now see more drivers for the Prometheus please!?!
EDIT: Is Anachronism Industries Redrumloa's company, or my mind is playing tricks on me again?
-
@Red, what's your connection to all this?
I'm a partner in Anachronism Industries.
-
Great!
please help to improve ArakAttack!
"
!!! This is a debug version to check my native prometheus api. This driver won't enable any USB devices !!!
1. Install Poseidon 2.2
2. Copy the included PrometheusUSB.device into the devs:USBHardware drawer. Make sure the name stays unchanged.
3. Open a CLI and type "sushi >t:Logfile"
4. run Trident, enter the hardware section and add PrometheusUSB.device
5. push online within the trident window
6. press control-c in the CLI window
7. Send in the logfile.
8. If the logfile looks good, then you'll get a usb enabled version. If not, you'll get a new one.
I need your help! I don't own a Prometheus Board and your feed back is required if you want USB! AmithlonTV will be next
if USB succeeds."

I thought, Anachronism Industries had exited the amiga market, a couple of months ago... I recall a A.org news post titled "Stillborn". You guys changed your minds? If yes, well done!
-
please help to improve ArakAttack!
Please do!!!
I need your help! I don't own a Prometheus Board
Well we need to get you one now don't we? ;-) You have my email address, we'll be talking :-D
-
You guys changed your minds?
Yes we changed our minds. We have many people to thank for the encouragement and support to help change our minds. First and foremost is Wayne Hunt, many thanks to him for his support through a gloomy time.
-
Way to go red! :-) :pint:
-
@red:
Sometime in the future.....will we see low cost a1 boards alternatives from you guys? ;-)
Or is Anachronism gonna base all its assets to classic amiga?
-
@restore2003
There is plenty we want to do and some things already in the works. I will not announce anything until it is ready to go.
-
I will not announce anything until it is ready to go.
You mean you're not gonna announce products years before their available?!? How strange!!! ;-)
- Mike
-
Yeah Baby!!!!!!!! I have a Amiga 4000 that is just wanting a nice little PCI setup. I can't wait until it all clears in the dust. I'll be waiting with cash in hand.
-
@red
Any chance of redesigning the Prom in a way that it
would fit easier/better ? Or maybe some minimalist Zorro3-busboard with one slot (oriented in a way to make the Prom sit where it should sit).
-
Nice one Red!
Good luck in this and future endevours.
-
Hi red, long time no speak.
Any chance of a zorro II version or a Z4 version
OR just a plain old A1200 version.
Got I z4 busboard in me 1200 see. Dont want a mediator and was looking at grex(got a bppc)
-
Wow not that makes it so much more clear as to why you love that board so much! Way to go Red!! If you get it working better then now I may have to get one to replace the mediator I have!!
-
Nice to hear! Congrats, dude! :)
-
This can only be a good thing.
There are plenty of people out there wanting to expand their big-box Amigas. Now all I need is an A4000... ;)
-

Or maybe a Zorro right-angle adaptor? Better yet, add that to a small PCB to reposition the card so it obscures the ISA slots - almost no one uses those these days - while keeping Zorro slots free.
-
I second that. I'd like to see a ZorroII version too. All of my machines are 2000s, and a couple of 1000s for nostalgia. It would probably be 'saner' to attach it to the 32-bit buss on the accellerator cards, but there are so many of those to design for.
I've also thought an interesting idea would be to design a PCI card that would plug into a mini-itx board and a ZorroII slot. Map the Zorro autoconfig space into the PCI space. Kinda like the old A1/1200 combo was supposed to work.
-
So...you're gonna produce a new run, redrum?
-
Great news, hope you will get in touch with european dealers so we don´t have to pay those "humungus" customs fees. :-)
Talk to Gunne at www.ggsdata.se :-D
-
Ooh, that's tempting! I'd rather pay $125 though :-D
Does anyone know if these work in desktop A3000's? I suppose I could go find out online, but I'm too lazy... I'm guessing you need a towered A3k. If not, I might have to get one.
-
they might work. The slots right, but the issue is in room, the 3000's case is kinda small.
-
Does anyone know if these work in desktop A3000's?
With the case open.
-
@redrumloa
$175 for Prometheus boards?
$175 for three years old boards with bugs in the busmastring is much too high price.
As you know during two years Vesalia tried to sell their Prometheus stock for 99 EUR (VAT included) for each board. Ask them about the real value of Prometheus boards.
The price 40-50 EUR for the Prometheus board, mentioned in the 'PCI for genuine 4000T' topic (http://www.amiga.org/forums/viewtopic.php?topic_id=15584&forum=13&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&start=20), would be much more appropriate.
I wonder why you hide here the true story about Prometheus and Matay. Here are some facts:
About Prometheus:
edited by admin: personal opinion used in support of personal attack on Matay.
About Matay:

-
@tjaoz
Your whole evidence against the Promethius comes from Elbox, and you promote Elbox solutions....
Can we say, you are not exactly inspiring trust here?
*edit* plus, why discuss Matay's issues at all, when this is an AA product?
-
:roflmao:
-Edit-
Anyone who wants to see this worst solution in action and are passing through South FL, I can give free demonstrations. :lol:
-
@downix
My evidence against Prometheus comes from me. I used this board and I know its value.
About trust:
edited by admin: personal attack
-
@tjaoz
So you admit you work for Elbox then, as they're using your measurements in their marketing?
-
@downix

AA product??
removed by admin: libellous heresay and personal opinion
-
@downix
Unfortunately I do not work for Elbox. They do not use my measurements.
AFAIK Elbox have had the Prometheus board from its sales start.
-
Well I'm interested. I like to make informed decisions before purchasing.
I have dealt with Red in a ver promising way in the past, but I require a solution that will suit my needs.
My concerns are...
1. I really need to make use of 100MB Lan cards.
2. I have a fast ATA IDE PCI card that uses basmastering.
3. I have now read that Prom uses just 1 IRQ to "switch" between all PCI slots.
4. I need to have support.
5. It shouldn't cost more than my very old 4k costs. which sells here in AUS for $200 now :)
All in all, it's a very promising product, providing it does what I need it to.
I won't buy a mediator because it's the cost of a done up 4k and obviously I can't justify that. That's just being silly :)
-
Here are some facts:
Prometheus is unquestionably the worst PCI option on the Amiga market.
Actually, that's an opinion.
-
@redrumloa
This is great news. :-D
Thanks,
redfox
-
@redrumloa
Nice news. May thou business prosper!
-
@ tjaoz
go troll somewhere else OK
@ red
did you get the supply stuff too like VGA and Ethernet extenders, for leading the cardconnectors to a backplate. I could use a least a VGA-extender for my G-RexA4000T.
If you manage to extend the number of supported drivers I migh as well be interested in a Prometheus too (there are anough non PPC Z3 machines here to put it in).
I would be interested in a single slot inline version too as the only thing I need a PCI-solution for anyway is the power of a VooDoo3 (network and Soundcards I have plenty as zorrocards, even got two PIV with Palomamodule, so no need for a TV-card too)
-
"Well we need to get you one now don't we? You have my email address, we'll be talking "
The message was from Guido Mersmann, author of ArakAttack and AmithlonTV. I already own a Prometheus but the firmware hasn't been updated yet...
BTW, Interesting announcement :-)
Very important if you own a Prometheus, read THIS (http://www.amiga-news.de/en/news/AN-2004-03-00038-EN.html).
Check out the messages of Guido Mersmann in this thread (http://www.amiga-news.de/de/news/comments/thread/AN-2004-03-00033-DE.html) (in german, use babelfish to translate).
It seems that OpenPCI has similar problems in other systems, the problems are memory function related, it seems that the upload rate goes down until it's 0 and there's a lock up.
-
@Shades:
1. They'll end up working, I hope that very soon...
2. The problem is that HD controllers would need real DMA to the motherboard and Mediator&Prometheus don't have that at the moment... it may work but slowly, just like a powerflyer BTW, Tjaoz won't tell you that they didn't implement DMA to save costs in their powerflyers (and probably because they don't know).
3. My PC uses the same IRQ to switch between 3 pci cards, what's the problem? It's part of the official specification of PCI that cards should be able to share interrupts (And I doubt that Mediator uses different IRQs). Well, internally, in the Prometheus side each card has its own IRQ, but Prometheus talks with the Amiga motherboard using INT2...
4. Support is going to improve very soon (really!) ;-)
5. It's the most cost effective solution for Big box Amigas
-
@Redrumloa:
If you produce it again, try to change slightly the design to make it look as the unreleased Mediator Zorro3, it would fit better and would require minimal changes in the layout.
and get in touch with european distributors like amigasuperbit.com, vessalia or KDH...
-
@ tjaoz
So if I understand/remember you well : the Highway card was the worst and overpriced Amiga USB solution of the world some times ago and now the Prometheus card is the worst and overpriced Amiga pci solution of the world. period.
Don't you see something familiar there? :inquisitive:
We ALL know your preference for Elbox products and your continuous bashing of it's competitors.
You are not fooling anyone here, so can you return to Hell for good please?
Not so Amigalement,
Jean-François.

This thread has been cleaned due to several complaints about personal agendas and attacks. Some of the statements expressed in this thread contained legally libellous content for which Amiga.org could be held accountable.
If you don't personally like Matay or the boards or whatever, that's fine, feel free to make your point in a way that you can back up by fact. Personal smear campaigns from competing companies or products are unacceptable here.
-
Prometheus is unquestionably the worst PCI option on the Amiga market.
Yes... but it is a good way to upgrade your 3/4000 classic, thanks to redrumloa now also "cheap". If you want to upgarde with a better solution, the right way is the Mediator. Anyway Prometheus is a good card and can bring new life to a classic Amy :-)

or a 90 degrees Zorro riser, could do the job. (on some Amiga models)
