eMule - finally we have Amiga (and MorphOS) port of this very popular p2p client. You can download ver0.2 here (http://www.rusback.org/files/Bourriquet_0.2.lha). You can see it, on screenshots here (http://www.rusback.org/background/bourriquet_server.jpg), and here (http://www.rusback.org/background/bourriquet_research.jpg).
Have fun downloading stuff..
-
yup , i checked it and couldnt find prefs and button in the menu doesnt work either.. (preferences) ..
other than that it looks cool :)
pps:archive include lots of OLD libs and MUIlibs so beware when upgrading/installing
-
You can see it, on screenshots here, and here.
Backdrop is way more interesting.
-
Although I prefer mldonkey, its great to see new useful software on both aos and morphos.
-
u will probably find it on Emule :P hehehe
-
Great to finally see it on Amiga, backdrop caught my attention first though ;-)
-
Looks promising but it just doesnt work :-)
-
It doesnt work for me as well. Just comes up with some error in french telling me some error I cant read. It looks like it would be a nice app though.
-
There`s a long way up to v1.0 ;-)
-
You need betterstring.mcc mui library not included, you can fond it from aminet.
After i installed that it start to work, at least a bit ;-)
You need allso server.met file that can found from web, try google
It crash when i tried to connect server.
-
Bourriquet is not yet usable, this page exists only to show it is being developped, that's all. You will only be able to connect to a server and search for files, but you will not be able to download since it is not yet implemented. I don't undestand why this news is on nearly every Amiga site, it's far too early.
Anyway, Rusback is doing a nice job doing his own client (helped with SixK an others) only using edonkey protocol documentations)

Indeed there is ... but then, the original Emule is only at 0.30, so ... :-D
-
Hi utri007
the same here.
Just downloaded the server.met HERE (http://2z4u.de/ghxjo2sd/max/server.met) copied in Progdir: but when you click on Connect . . . it crash.
I've tryed also with an higher stack size but it doesn't works.
Live Long to AmiGift :-)
Ciao
-
I tried allso higher stack.
-
Today i contact autor of Bourriquet and he write me:
"it's about one version DEV (0.2.1), not multitasking,
little buggy, and a lot of buttons don't works for the moment. Just connection and research(... just name or keywords) works correctly..."
-
Hi cYbo
sorry but even Connection, doesn't works here.
Nice client, anyway. Good luck to the author :-)
Ciao
-
Used SnoopDos to figure out what I was missing and downloaded the
missing components from Aminet. After that I got it up and running.
Several servers kicked me out. And I also got some crashes. But was
able to do some search if I found a compatible server.
Unfortunatly as some mentioned this program isn't finished yet and not
much happens when you press the download button.
Looks quite good though! :-)
-
Looks good :-D
Is it really a great idea to include a screenshot with Amiga Forever serials and kickstart images visible though?
P2P is a nice tool for some things, but I dread to think of the impact widespread software piracy would have on the Amiga/MOS platforms :-x
-
huba hubba :-D
for anyone who wants the wallpaper :)

great work!
-
Fact: DirectConnect is the best file share available.
A port of DC++ (http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net) could be possible.

Fact: DirectConnect is the best file share available
Fact: That is BS :-D
Torrent for the people!
btw, anyone tested Shareaza? (http://www.shareaza.com/)
-
erm!! IIRC this is a P2P client Amiga related thread . . or not?
ATM AmiGift, works great . . . .needs only few fine tunings, the most ixemul.library related.
You will see . . . .soon :-)

Hmm...
I can't seem to find this supposely great amiGift anywere?
project site is down or not there at sf.net?
Any recomendations?

What's wrong with DC? Don't say the servers. If you can't be arsed to share enough of course you're going to be left on the 1 - 10GB share hubs.

>What's wrong with DC? Don't say the servers. If you can't be arsed to share enough of course you're going to be left on the 1 - 10GB share hubs
<------------------>
There is nothing wrong in DC/DC++ itself. But _some_ of the hubs.. jesus christ. Some underage kidz running and acting as halfnazis. And if that wasn't enough already, we also have a bunch of god damn whiners begging to open more slots.
And when they a) dont get response b) gets negative response, usually you get a nice'n'friendly "f*ck you!" back.
Luckily this doesn't happen in more "pro" hubs (100gb+) but it's pretty annoying when it happens.
Anyways.. a couple short stories...
One time I was downloading something which transferred very slowly.. like 1-2k/s .. as it was the only place where I was able to find it and I wasn't in a hurry, I kept it on and on. Meanwhile I was uploading 100kb worth every second .. and what happened.. the second day i got kickbanned due to leeching :-)
Oh, and twice I was kickbanned for sharing kazaa files aswell... one(1) forgotten file I didn't even know existed, among 30gb of mp3s.
And if it was only me.. but it happens to pretty much everyone I know.
uh..did I mention the very poor transfer speeds compared to Bit Torrent already? :)
-
Poor transfer speeds? Yeah, if you waste your time downloading off someone on dial-up. Other than that, the rest is true. I soppose DC's for the more "pro" file sharers.
BTW, there are some really good file sharing IRC chans.
