Was subwar any good?
IMHO, No. Poor graphics and frustrating gameplay.

"Poor graphics and frustrating gameplay."
If I have not mistaken about the game...
I think it had some special & nice atmosphere.
And i think graphics were ok for a legacy chipset using game at that time.
And I think I failed to find/enjoy the game in it...

Yay! I *LOVE* stunt car racer!

Another company that now rocks even more in my eyes!

Cool! StuntCar Racer was, of course, the treasure of this lot. Simply brilliant game. I can't wait 'till the modern version finally comes out.
Silent Service 1 and 2 were great for their time, too. I still play SS2 now and then. SS1 is great for laughs on a modern machine. Issue a dive command and see how long it takes to exceed safe dive depth. About 2 seconds on my A4000. Saying it plays a bit fast is a very large understatement! hahahaha!!

Yep Stunt Car Racer is the best of the lot:)
Followed closely by Gunship 2000 - which was superb for the time (I played it almost continuously for several years).
Subwar 2050 was also excellent. Although the graphics did not have the PC texture mapping, and the weaponry was limited in choice, the game took the subtle stealth movements required in Gunship 2000 to a whole new level. Learning to carefully use the thermal zones to avoid enemies was particularly fun.

I concur, had a lot of fun with Subwar2050. Had a great, spooky/eerie atmosphere (probably largely due to the whale sounds :-))..
