I have an A 3000T with 16megs fast ram
(All 4402) and am wanting to add more mem.
What is a good add on board for this computer?
were/are there any Z3 memory boards?
what is the most memory the 3000 can address?
I'd like to add about another 16megs
I have a GVP G-Force 040 board for the 3000, that has
sockets for simms, but It wont work unless I have
3.1 roms, and all I have is a 3.1 kick image and the
old boot strap roms. Besides which I cant find any
SW or manuals for this board. It's huge and has lots
of jumpers and I don't know if they are set right or
not.
Thanks

Can you get a manual off aminet or the big book of amiga hardware? At least then you will know the jumpers for the board and its limitations.

DKB 3128 But they're rarer than hen's teeth and when they come up on ebay, they go for a fortune. Too bad Dean Brown couldn't release the circuitboard to aminet so that anyone could make them. Or even some of the hardware companies that are still around to produce zorro 2 and 3 boards that take cheap PC 133 memory. :-(

The problem you face is that the GVP G-Force uses a proprietary 64pin SIMM. So, adding that extra 16M isn't going to be cheap. For example, Software Hut lists the 16M SIMM at ~$80!
But, I'd say this is your best bet. Kickstart ROM(s) aren't expensive, and are a worthwhile upgrade. (I couldn't stand the bootstrap, having killed my kickstart file more than once) I'd get this first and try the accelerator before buying additional RAM due to the cost though.

I have a DKB3128, and I got it for about 50€... I thought that was a pretty reasonable price... :)

@Orjan
Yes that's a very resonable price. Probably got it on ebay.de did you. You could resell it on ebay us for over $125.and double your money. :-D
I picked up my cyberstorm and cybervision on ebay.de because they were so much more reasonable in price, although I ended up sending Euro notes through the mail as it was a lot less hassle than trying to wire the money or send bankdrafts. Don't know why cross Atlantic commerce is so complicated. :-?
Although many sellers on ebay.uk will use paypal, doesn't seem to exist yet on ebay.de (although since ebay owns paypal now, that may change).

indeed, I hate ebay.com but it's got the most stuff and is cheaper than softhut atleast

I had those ver.37 roms in my A3k. I was a little
reluctant to change as I could KickStart in any
version of dos I wanted. I did put the 3.1 roms
in and picked up a WarpEngine 040 40mhz.
I added 64 megs 72 pin simms for a total of 80
megs. I like it :-D
Its worth the switch.

Noting wrong with eBay. Ask Red in a few days. He maybe able to sell you a few ounces of memory. (See the Amiga eBay forum) :-D

@Argo
a few ounces of memory
:)_____(:
(This should be a rolling smilie, but more link doesn't work in Opera :( )

Thanks everyone,
For the information on memory boards.
I'm not sure about using the G-Force 040 3000
for the memory upgrade, since it needs special
SIMMs and according to the Big Book of Amiga
Hardware, It only supports 8megs of ram, and I
want at least 16 more.
But I guess I still need to get the 3.1 ROM set
just to get the 040 running.

Nope, I didn´t get it off ebay, I got it from a "local" advertising page here in Sweden. Apparantly some guys A3K had burned up, or something, and he sold off the parts. So I didn´t pay much for postage either... :)
No, I don´t think I´ll sell it... After all, I have filled it up with 128Mb and it is a piece of history, and Its pretty cool to have... :)

G-Force 040/3000:
It uses very special 68 (!) pin SIMMs, not the ordinary 64pin GVP SIMMs. These were 1 MB only, non-multiplexed and had 40 ns access speed.
The board supports burst mode only if the SIMMs are installed in groups of four (4 or 8 MB).
It was released before Kickstart 3.x, so it must work with 2.x too.
