An upgrade of MPlayer for MorphOS is available from MorphZone (http://www.morphzone.org). The port is maintained by Nicolas DET, and the new version is 0.91.
It's the time to release MPlayer 0.91 for MorphOS !
I hope you will enjoy it. Look in the readme file for list of the changes.

Cool! This has become the default video player on my Pegasos. Fantastic!

Very nice piece of software hyperion should get this into os4. :-)

I know of a programmer who says he intends to port MPlayer to OS 4.0 as soon as OS 4.0 is ready. I just hope the author of the MorphOS port doesnt mind sending him the source code.
-
you can download the source at MorphZone too.
-
Source is there, both for MOS and Linux, easily downloaded, and falls under the GPL. As far as I remember the GPL, anyone can use it as long as they upload their own version to the source tree.
The MPlayer source apparently includes a lot of MOS-specific system calls. Porting it to OS4 won't be too easy, and a fully working GCC will be necessary.
Edit: and from what I hear, OS4 will include an ffmpeg.library anyway which will handle movie decoding for its own player.
There's nothing to stop anyone porting it to 68k or WOS AmigaOS now...could be useful.
-
I wouldnt mind seeing a WOS version :-)

Excellent. :)

Hmm, that doesnt sound too good. But MOS is more Amiga-like than Linux, so it should be easier to port.

Is this top secret leaked dev-info? :) I like it.

Its software this good on morphos that make the pegasos even better value. :-)

Hi !
There is only a very few MorphOS "specific" system call.
It's quiet hard to port something like MPlayer on WarpOS (I think).
Amiga OS 68k port should be easy.
About OS4, I don't care...
Bye

Whereas I do, which is why I intend to port it to OS4. Of course, 99% of the hard work will already have been done by you, for which I am very thankful. An example of MOS development benefitting OS4, something I feel can work both ways.
