Taken from the STFax readme on aminet:
STFax 4
=======
STFax is now a Freeware application. Anyway, if you never bought it and want to contribute, you can order me something from my wishlist, see http://tellini.info/software/giftware.html
You can upgrade to the latest version applying the patches available on Aminet (biz/patch). Please do not email me with questions about the program expecting to receive an answer: currently my spare time is limited and I may not even remember the answer ;-) (I *may* answer you, but don't hold your breath.)
See the enclosed ReadMe file for the serial code.
Have fun,
Simone Tellini

The italics looks fine in the preview.... but they.ve screwed up now.... stupid tags...
-
That's my fault. I moved 2/3 of your post to the "Extended" section so the post on the main page would look shorter (viewers just have to click the "Read More" link to see the whole posting). However, I missed the italics tags when I moved it. I have fixed it now. Sorry about that.

thanx for this wonderfull app , but since its now giftware does that mean that its now the last version?
doesnt sound too good ;(
i remeber it got very good reviews in AmigaActive and former amiga mags..

Okay, here is my dumb question:
Can I use STfax with a cable modem :-?
-
While I was happy to see a program of such quality being made free,it's not a good sign.
It's obviously the last version, otherwise it wouldn't be "offered". Looks like another good developer is leaving the Amiga.
Makes me remember of the free software spree that some magazines indulged in in the past. See where that took us...

Can I use STfax with a cable modem :-?
If you send it to an ISP with Fax forwarding, it should work?
FaxFree.com is supposed to be free, but never tried it.

Nice piece of software .

The program looks at the serial port by default and needs to dialup on the phone line.
I've no idea how i can use it on an ADSL-Cable connection.
Suggestions?
Ciao
PS- anyway, thanks a lot Simone :-)

Thanks for a great piece of software. I am a registered user and loved this software coupled with my old Pace Solo which unfortunately got blasted by a lightening storm :-(
Good luck with whatever you do in the future Simone. Have a :pint: with me !

@ lempkee
you are never satisfied :-)
Enjoj with this news:

don't worry, lempkee. . .be happy :-)

@Framiga
From their site: The network is entirely supported by advertising. That's why we're able to offer free fax services to anyone with a computer connected to the Internet.
I see your point about serial, so I sent the webmaster an email saying.. "Huh?? ANYONE??"
-
fragima:well that update is surely ok, but by the looks of it...this is the end of this powerapp. ;(
anyone interested in explaining me how to use this on cable modems / adsl ?
cheers

No way at all.
Probably under Win, some Fax Service Company with its own apps, can do it.
Not sure with STFax.

Simone left the Amiga YEARS ago. Contact Manager is already under the GPL and he doesn't appear very often in the Vapor IRC channels. He makes Windows apps now. Quite good ones, too, for an Italian! :D

By the way, to use STFax with a cable/adsl line:
Buy a cheap ordinary external serial Fax modem -£20 from your local PC store. Poseidon users may even be able to find a USB modem that is supported.
Plug it via an ordinary phone cable into your ADSL splitter, or the NTL/Telewest phone line socket. Et voila! :)

I've used Windoze fax service, and I've evaluated several fax/voicemail systems for my office. I must say, ST Fax can hold its own against any Windows fax program.
I had to fiddle with Windows for an hour trying to get an outgoing fax out. ST Fax, I installed and faxed in 5 minutes. Too bad I didn't have a regular need to send a fax from home.
Good work.
