I like the design of that website, very professional looking.. I wonder who is their designer? :-?
-
Why not just ask them?

Can I just BUY OS4 now, please ... can I? huh? Puhleeeeeeze.
I know, *sigh*, "when it's done" :-(

Awesome!

Though the driver was not intended to operate on the AmigaOne platform (in favor of SNAP drivers), a need for a more immediate solution prompted the porting of the driver to the new hardware.
AmigaOne Lite perhaps? That's my guess anyway.
:-D
-
Sounds promising. But as they'll find, supporting one Radeon isn't quite the same as supporting them all. Still, it's a good start.
-

Yep. Those things are going to sell like hotcakes.
-
@legion
Providing they can get the price down.
-
@KennyR:
If this driver is going to be for the Lite, it's enough - remember, the latest Lite prototype has the graphics chipset soldered in, so adding a pluggable graphics driver system is unnecessary. The extra overhead brings no benefit whatsoever.
-
@downix:
That's the real question, isn't it? the Lite looks good enough to eat (figuratively ;-) ), but what will make or break it will be the pricetag. I also hope Alan is setting up some sort of deal to sell them in nice cases. Brand recognition is an important part of this game, and if people can't see one in the store window that looks like the one their friend has, that's a lost sale. Take the PS2 and the GameCube - those are two computers that aren't easily mistaken for any others.

i totally agree on that!

GOD. I can't wait till OS4 arrives, I really need to get some cookies stored in the bank for one of these puppies.
It's near impossible to find a network card for my 4k and well one of these PCs is going to fly, fly, fly.

Agreed. But if they can get them below $300 US, I *will* buy one.

Answering a few things at once:
>But as they'll find, supporting one Radeon isn't >quite the same as supporting them all.
We do support more than one. The 7000 just happens to have been the first one that got tested with the driver.
>If this driver is going to be for the Lite, it's enough
It happens to run on the Lite, but the Lite will presumably ship with the SNAP driver, as will the "Full" AmigaOne. I broke my Prometheus, and having alternative/additional test environments available will be a good thing for us while I wait for repair/replacement...
>and if people can't see one in the store window
>that looks like the one their friend has, that's >a lost sale.
Depends on what you're into. Some people like acrylic windows and neon lights, I don't. I don't like the X-box case, but bought one anyway. I think the PSX2 looks better, but don't have one of them. (shrug) The Xbox has more tinkering options available...

BTW: I have also tried a 7500 so, far. Work's too. Nothing above yet, though.
cheers

Yay! Good job, Forefront Technologies :-) Let's Get Ready to Rumble! :-D
-
Brilliant work Forefront! keep it up.
Will the driver support the 9xxx series Radeons?
Cheers

What does CLUT mean? (see screenshot)
Very pretty.
-
CLUT = Colour LookUp Table
It means palette based.

Fantastic piece of news! Radeon 7xxx e 8xxx driver!
Great work!
I also read the others GREAT news, AHI OS4 native support for SBLive! and The MicroA1 run Linux (and maybe tomorrow at Graz OS4) at 1066Mhz!!!
Graet news!
-
Wonder what could we have if we didn't have to reinvent the wheel again and again... :roll:
Nice work and congratulations though!
-

Bill replied to my other post on AW and said that this driver will work officially all the way up to the 8500, but *may* (unofficially) work on additional models. (I'm assuming the 9000/9100 series). When it comes to the next series (9200-9800) they are based on a different chip, so it probably wont work there.
BTW, where have you guys seen the price listed for the Micro-A1? I don't recall seeing a price listed anywhere. Or are you just assuming?
-
CLUT = Colour LookUp Table
Pity it's not a look -in table.
i'll get me coat.
-
I think I'm slowly being converted to the idea of the a1/os4 :-)
-
exellent , i heard some rumours about this some time ago..SWEET!.
herewegoagain: the price tag is just speculations or what ever.
no price has been shared yet , but it MUST be low to attract everyone who can't afford an amigaone XE etc.
so lets see if Eyetech wants to sell ####loads or a few...
:D
-
I love it!!!
Radeon on A1 + OS4 - that is nothing but genius!!!
Now I just can not wait for some decent SOFTWARE announcements to make use of SB and ATi...
Untill then I do nothing but wait!!!
-
@Herewegoagain:
Radeon9200 is more or less a 9000 with AGPx8 support and a slightly higher clock. Sometimes they use even the same PCB...
-
Hurrah! It even has a teeny lttle boing ball along the top of the Workbench screen (far top left).
Needs a 'Games' icon, though. Nothing fancy, just a pacman eating a ghost. Or Zool...

Basically, yes, but even with less performance. Although it is classified as an R280 catagory, but still the R2XX series. The driver may work with the 9200 class as well, but when you go the next step to 9500> you are definitely into a different chipset altogether.

Great news i have a radeon 8500 in my a1.
