Title: Coldfire Status Update
Post by: Kees on September 29, 2003, 09:55:56 AM
Oliver Hannaford-Day gives us a status update of the Coldfire Accelerator (http://www.cdtv.org.uk/coldfire/index.html) and agreed to answer some of our questions (http://amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=4324).

"As it stands the prototype is still none functional, I've been forced to change the CPU on the board twice, the first chip was fried, I'm not sure of the actual reason for the failure but the second chip is being installed very slowly. As it stands at the moment the board has a stable power supply (3.3V and 1.8V) and the CPU has power, clock source, debug port and part of the data bus, the chip is staying cool but is yet to function. The current PCB design has three minor faults (3.3V power was not actually connected to the main board, TA was connected to 3.3V near the Firewire interface and a small part of the ground plane wasn't connected to the rest) which have all been corrected.
I know it looks like the project is crawling but its only a hobby so I don't get an endless amount of time working on the card but it will work, every day I am more confident about that.

I intend to spend the remainder of the week working on the prototype so hopefully this news will be old news by the Beneluxshow.

Regards,
Oliver Hannaford-Day

it´s a pity that i can´t go there. would be nice to see some detailled information/pictures from the show AND especially from the Coldfire.
