There is a new Mplayer for Morphos.
"Well, it's not "new". It's the port of MPlayer (well-known Linux media player) for MorphOS. Nearly all the features of the original version have been ported like (S)VCD support, DVD..."
Check it out at Morphzone (http://www.morphzone.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=146) ...

Thats briliant news its an excellant media player but remember dvd playback is only for dvds which are not encrypted.Also check this site out for autobooting version that runs a small linux distro and runs software from any drive including windows formated site here movix (http://movix.sourceforge.net/) :-D
Id love this for the a1 with os 4 best media player there is.

@amigamad
I have something like that for the dreamcast. DCDivX :-P I love it! Convert the file to divx-5, run a script, burn a cd. Instant self booting movie disc for the Sega DreamCast :-D

MPlayer is incredible. It's very fast, totally rock solid stable, and packed with features and codecs. So far I haven't found any files it can't play. Whoever ported this great player so well to MOS is a genius. :-)
-
Next one: Overlay support for Radeons so I can use it fully.. please.
-
Some very good software being ported to morphos it is getting even more worth buying a pegasos every day . :-)
-
You mean overlay support for all radeons...overlays work on my Radeon9000.

This is insanely good news for me! The one thing always lacking in -Amiga- related platforms was a good MPG player. I was thrilled when I threw a 720x480 8Mbit video at it and it played flawlessly. Even scaling the window on the fly worked perfect.
Now may I get greedy? How about a fancy GUI with playlist? :-D
-
I am watching a DVD as I type this, sweeeeeeeeet:-D
-
mplayer is the best player i´ve ever seen. stable and fast. it only hangs for some time, when choosing a file from the requester, which is corrupt (linux version).
-
Fancy GUI + Playlist == FroggerNG :-D Remember Toad :-) I have been secretly adding features to Toad, and one of the planned features is, in fact, a PlayList.
MPlayer is very nice; however, without an ARexx port there isn't much that I, personally, can do for it.

@KennyR
Yes, I meant for all Radeons. I have the only one not supported.. 8500/9100.. just my usual luck :)
-
but remember dvd playback is only for dvds which are not encrypted.
hmmm... that's probably not correct. I've played yesterday an encrypted dvd with mplayer, frogger couldn't play back the movie because the encryption.

Thats illegal to use in most countrys. :-?

Tried it out and it's excellent, works like a charm. The toolbar for disabling the vanishing borders is an excellent idea - it was the only thing annoying me in the beta we demoed at SceneCON.
Congratulations and thanks for the port! Looking forward to your next project :-)
