The Icculus.org version of Duke3D has been ported to AmigaOS 3.x and MorphOS.
There is a 68K version, which works on AGA/CGX/P96, and a MorphOS/Pegasos native version. Additionally, you need the Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition CD.
More info and downloads are available here (http://www.neoscientists.org/~dante/).

Cool! I can't wait to try it out.
I only wish the Amiga version was for WarpOs/PPC too and not just 68k.

very cool !!!

Most Likely (http://amigaworld.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=706)

I mananged to borrow a copy of the game and try it. Neither the MOS or 68k versions of the game work on my Pegasos. I didn't try it on the Amiga yet, since I'd rather play it faster than 5 fps. :-P
As for the WOS version mentioned, it's likely that won't work here. So far all the Quake ports from the same author haven't worked for me either. :-(
-
We have tested the Game on Pegasos/G3-600/ATI Radeon. In fact, bifat has palyed the whole game on this configuration.
Seems, the game isn't the problem 8-)
And what quake? :-? I've never done any quake-port...

Same here. I can get it to start by increasing the stack to 500000, but it isn't working properly. None of the animations work and the game won't start. This is using a Voodoo 3..

The MacOS port via Shapeshifter ran quite nicely actually for me. I don't remember measuring FPS, but it was quite playable.
-
A lot of people who've played both reckon the Mac version just wasn't as good as the DOS version. I don't know what was different, though, i've only played the DOS version.

@dante_oxyron
Excellent job. It fly's on my Amithlon system. (Probably a little to fast actually)
I don't think my poor A1200 is up to the task without a few more upgrades :)
Thanks!

@amigaguy: at least, a positive reaction, thx :-)
to the others: what should i say to comments like "it doesn't run"? :-? Please, read the AMIGA.readme, and send me a Bugreport, including some details about your system and how duke crashes... ok?

It's not you I meant. The coder of GLQuakeWOS (Massimiliano Tretene) wants to do a WOS port of Duke3D too. I've nothing against the guy but none of his Quake ports ever worked on my machines (although they did work on VooDoo cards, and since Duke doesn't use 3D acceleration I have no reason to believe there'd be the same problem).
But if you want a bug report, there's nothing much I can say. Duke loads, it doesn't play a demo, shows the menu screen after a push of the spacebar then promptly freezes when you try to start a game. I have a Pegasos with Radeon too. I can confirm that it doesn't work for at least one other Pegasos/Radeon user too.
-
I hope Massimiliano Tretene does a WOS port... his GLQuake port worked great on my machine.

So 15 fps on a 060 then? well i have a 1200/060,voodoo 3000 so id like to try it.So 15 fps, anyone know of a game that runs at that speed? goldeneye ran at 20fps right? just wanna know if its good b4 i buy th pc version..Thanks

Does anyknow know where you can download the Duke Nukem Atomic Edition demo without having to sign up loads of crap (I hate Fileplanet etc.)?
-
find a kazaa enabled machine, the game resides on the network . ;)
I hope for a wos port also. Never had a problem with GLQuakewos if thats from the same auther. BlitzQuake (I think it was called) totaly refused to run on my BVision though which was quite annoying .

Forgive me if i am wrong but have they not got public servers at fileplanet that are free for anybody to use without signing up.

My setup is about the same - Blizzard 1260/66MHz and Mediator w/ Voodoo3.
15fps does happen when there's not much action in the game, but sometimes when things get really hectic the game crawls around 5fps.
I would say I got 10-12fps on average through most of the game, with some moments of high action making the game sink to a crawl.
Overall, I still think it's playable for the most part, but Amithlon or the MorphOS port would be a better choice for a comfortable game.
-
the windows port is even more usefull .
if ya gonna mess on an 86 machine why waste time with amithlon when native x86 version is gonna be faster , better ..stronger ...heh ;)
-
Because Windows isn't worth using.

dante_oxyron. great work guys!! (http://amiga.org/images/subject/icon14.gif) the intro works 100% perfect, the main game crashes with some sound related problem (i only ran it once so it might work yet with some tweaking). Hope theres a new version soon :-)

As slow as a 386 pc then? :-(
-
Hmm, well, optimizations still haven't been done, have they? Just wait a few more time and they'll probably happen.

Same here - Pegasos G3-600, 384MB RAM, Radeon 7000. It gets as far as printing "Code Size:64832 bytes (1795 labels)" in the console window then hangs the computer.
I haven't yet found another MorphOS user who has been able to run it.
-
Hm, this was ported to and tested on Pegasos by Timm (Bifat/Arctic Haze), dunno whats wrong. If you have the right version (Atomic Edition, V1.5), then try to start it with "morphosduke.exe /dd", this disables the demo.playback at start.

@ Lando,
Have you checked, whether you have a correct lowlevel.library in your
system?
That was the reason, why it didn't work here, but no it works very
well(using a Radeon VE.
