Title: NComm with parallel.device
Post by: lionstorm on October 06, 2003, 08:46:52 AM
Hi all,
yesterday I tried to transfer files between my 2 A1200s using Ncomm3.06 and serial.device. After a bit struggling I was able to transfer files at 10Kbytes/sec using Zmodem protocol at 115600bps.
I wanted to try parallel.device but I was unable to transfer anything.
Does someone know how to transfer through the parallel.device with NComm ?

One has to use some kind of modified cable if I recall correctly.

I don't think it's possible, at least with the system parallel.device. Term programs like NComm can be used only with serial type ports. For a parallel cable you should use one of the many parallel port transfer programs available.

in the early days i used a program called teleport, atleast i think that was what it was called. it would send files at incredible speeds over the parallel port but it disabled all multitasking while it was transferring, and could only handle files which did fit in memory.
