DCE (http://www.dcecom.de/) uploaded a picture of the Pegasos 1GHZ G4 CPU Module.
Note that Genesi didn't made a decision yet which CPU will be used (1GHz, 1.2GHz or 1.3GHz).
Check it out here (http://www.dcecom.de/news.html) ...

I want it, and I dont even got a Pegasos :-)
Very nice looking.
-
Gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme etc etc :-D
-
Sure, and when it stops working, you have to wait 2 years to get it repaired :D
-
Nice, but it almost looks rendered ? Or is that just me?

Maybe they've pioneered a PCB recycling technique that allows them to grind down broken Amiga CPU cards that are sent to them for repair and turn them into G4 boards :-P ;-)
Edit: OK, ok.. it was just a joke. :-D it looks very nice, and I can't wait for (admittedly useless) benchmarks.

Last time i checked ... This topic was about the Picture of the G4 module ...
Lets stay on-topic ... shall we ...

I saw DCE in the title and cringed;-) however DCE doesnt handle repairs/replacements, Genesi does. So far IMO Genesi has handled this well.

Looks great :-)
I'd like to know if the new Peggy 2 will be able to use a 166Mhz bus :-) I think that the chiset should allow it... BTW, the AGP implementation will be 8x or what? I guess that 4x at least to maintain compatibility, but as bPlan has to do it from scratch it would be very nice to have AGP 8x... and what about USB2? what southbridge have you planned to use? thank you ;-)
-
On the Marvell site, the Dispocery II front bus is 183
Mhz. So...
-
I looked up "angelaufen" in an online German to English dictionary:
Deutsch--------------------------English
1 Ergebnis----------------------1 result
angelaufen {adj} (Metall)---tarnished

The AGP 8x spec removed support for AGP 2x cards or below. This would
immediately eliminate every working card for the Pegasos.

The Marvel Discocery II front side bus is @183 MHz (DDR 366).

The main purpose with the second Pegasos is to replace the northbridge to get rid of the problems associated to the Articia.
The features, other than the new northbridge? Well, not much is known so I am just speculating here:
In a "worst case scenario", not much has changed other than that. They are doing the necessary modifications to the Peg1 motherboard and they use as many of the components as possible that they allready had in stock for the Pegasos1. That means pretty much the same specs as for Pegasos1 other than faster bandwidth. However they first announced 3x Gigabit Ethernet (later changed to 2 when they decided which Discovery model to use, AFAIK) besides the DDR memory support. I am no hardware expert by I am guessing that this will require more of a redesign work than connecting the new memory and attaching the Peg1 components to the NB. If so, this might speak in favour of a "better case" ...
In a "best case scenario" they take this opportunity to make a complete redesign of the motherboard, and uses whatever components it takes to reach a "modern" level of specifications. They want to show off their engineering skills even more. This is what everybody is hoping for. How long does this take? When did they really start? When they announced the Peg2? Earlier?
When it comes to size of the motherboard I guess we can expect pretty much the same as the Peg1, micro ATX.
I desperately want some more information regarding the PegasosTwo. I believe that this silence has caused a lot of people to hope for more than they will get in the end. I only have to look at myself to realize that. I am hoping for USB2.0, Firewire 800, Serial ATA, AGP8x, several gigabit network connections, etc, but I really don't think they will match *all* my expectations ... :-?

I am not an expert, but doesn't AGP 8x still support AGP4x cards? Isn't at least the Voodoo3 and up, Radeon 7000 and up (among others) AGP 2x/4x cards? Shouldn't these work on an AGP8x motherboard?
-
@ DCE
Sorry to tell you, but Die Produktion der 1Ghz G4 CPU Karten für den Pegasos Computer von BPLAN ist angelaufen.
is that not Genesi now :-? or am I wrong :-?
-
>is that not Genesi now or am I wrong
bplan is "Genesi Germany" but kept the name bplan
for various reasons.

AGP 1.0 covers 1x and 2x
AGP 2.0 covers 4x
AGP 3.0 Covers 8x
I don't think AGP 3.0 has any support for 4x.. but Downix will probably prove me wrong again today :-)

I think it does. ;-)
I have an Abit NF7-S motherboard (AGP 3.0 8X ) and I am using that right now with a an old matrox 4x card. I also think that you will be able to read this among the specifications of any other AGP 3.0 8x motherboard. How could you sell an AGP 3.0 8x motherboard today otherwise?

Nice, but it almost looks rendered ? Or is that just me?
The photo - if photo it is, which is what I'm assuming - has certainly been touched up. Notice that all the identifying information on the chip has been obliterated. All we can see is that it's a Motorola product, which is hardly a surprise.
And why on earth would anyone want to keep that secret? :-?
-
i dont want one.
i want dual-G4 instead!!
-
@ anarchic_teapot
And why on earth would anyone want to keep that secret?
Ah, those conspiracies, those conspiracies ...
:-P

Rose: aren't you happy with your Aone, or why you sound so sore :-o
I think that Cpu card picture is only a bit amateurish.. But I wouldn't go that far on suggesting foul play just cause one can't see all markings from top of every chip on board.
Personally.. I'll expect to get closer look in couple months time when I'll purchase upgrade to my pega (G4 cpu + motherboard upgrade to Pegasos 2). By that time I'll hope to also have some Mos native softwares that can use G4 Altivec to something usefull.
-
Now this is the company making those G4 boards for you... :)
Oki, I respect Genisi, but as long as DCE is involved, Pegasos wont be my product :) Sorry.. Genisi. If you find someone else, I'll buy it!
-
..nice looking bush..

Note that Genesi didn't made a decision yet which CPU will be used (1GHz, 1.2GHz or 1.3GHz).
go for the 1.3ghz much more impressive by the way it looks good to .Very tempting when the new batch of pegasos 2 motherboards are out i might get one .
-
To the folk asking about AGP:
AGP 3.0 supports 4x and 8x.
AGP 2.0 supports PCI, 1X, 2X and 4X
AGP 1.0 supports PCI, 1X and 2X
The Voodoo barely rated at AGP 2x
As for the earlier S3 and Permedia cards, I'd not even try it on an 8x bus.
-
DCE is not involved... Their equipment is.
Their equipment belonged to Phase5, Gerald Carda
and co. know the machines inside out.
It's not Thomas Dellert that runs the production or
anything, it's Genesi.

@AmiDelf
Could you possibly replace the picture with a smaller version please? The page is rendered very wide and one has to scroll right to see complete lines...
TIA
-
@ Piru
We need wide screen monitors here ... ;-)
-
Well this 17" LCD can display 1280x1024 and if I adjust the browser window to full screen width then it can display the lines.. just.
But I hate reading 10km long lines... :-)

What is AGP Pro?
-
What is AGP Pro?
In superficial terms, it’s an extended AGP slot standard for power hungry AGP cards. It was release somewhere in April 1999.

What about ATI Radeon 9100?

Please take a deep breath, clear your mind of all the prejudices you have, and look at what you wrote again. You'll see that it is just sheer, undiluted paranoia. Please do not spread such FUD.
-
there are differant types of AGP Pro aswell
AGP Pro50
AGP Pro50 3.3V
AGP Pro50 1.5V
AGP Pro110
AGP Pro110 3.3V
AGP Pro110 1.5V
I had a bad issue 2 years ago when I bought a 3DLabs Wildcat 4110 and tried to stick it into a P4 board with an AGP 1.5V slot...and it was to old :( ...it needed 3.3 P4's are designed to only pump 1.5V Max to the AGP slot... sadly the board is still sitting here useless...
if/when ya go AGP Pro its best to spend alot of time reading before sticking one into your board...

@Seer
>Nice, but it almost looks rendered ? Or is that just me?
Yes, it's just you. Doesn't look rendered to me anyway ... a pic taken on a digicam I presume...
-
You

You're wrong :-)

EVIL, OFFTOPIC JOKE MODE ON
Anyone having pictures about Amiga Inc's current offices?
EVIL, OFFTOPIC JOKE MODE OFF
BTW, have you seen the offices of the largest Amiga dealers? Vesalia, KDH, Eyetech? The largest developers?
Let's face it. Save a few names all are this tiny.
I can understand anyones personal feelings however, yet I have a DCE 060 PPC, a DCE BVision, and I have a "DCE" Pegasos so far, and I still can't complain.
-
@AmiDelf
Is that somebody's back yard or what?
... reminds me of some other Amiga company that does not have office at all....
-
>And why on earth would anyone want to keep that
>secret?
Because otherwise it can't be a present ;)
Well I think with the Pegasos G4 card cool
computing will come back.
-
.. reminds me of some other Amiga company that does not have office at all....
There is not enough money in the Amiga market to justify a "brick and morter" store from dealers. That's fine and dandy as long as they deliver and offer support after the sale as long as they don't lie about it.
I can only think of 2 companies who have actively misled the public about the size and status of their company. Amiga Inc and Merlancia.
-
Nice, but it almost looks rendered ? Or is that just me?
I was going to say something similar, but i thought i'd get flamed.
Don't you reacon the CPU looks superimposed.

@Amidelf
Yeap thats DCE, so what ?
Wanna see Vesalia ? (AFAIK KDH operates out of a large house/cellar , but I never seen it so).
Or want to see the shed that used to house MacroSystems when they still where in the Amiga-market ?
They normally don't have any contact with private costumers, no need for a noble address.
All they need is some space, energy and a position not so close to a railroad or other sources of "earthquakes".
The do hav excellent machines, and those who operate them (Knäbel&Carda) know what they are doing.
-
@Hooligan_DCS
Yes, it's just you. Doesn't look rendered to me anyway ...
No. it's not just me, there's also some guy (or girl) on ANN that thought the same.. The bigger picture does make a better impression..
Don't worry, it wasn't ment to doubt Genesi and their partners, I just found the picture have some weird effects.
@JoannaK
Why can't Rose do the same as many others have done before with pictures of the AmigaONE and Pegasos, question the nature of the touched up photo (as she believes it is) and not be sore ?
I'll expect to get closer look in couple months time when I'll purchase upgrade to my pega (G4 cpu + motherboard upgrade to Pegasos 2). By that time I'll hope to also have some Mos native softwares that can use G4 Altivec to something usefull.
Great, now don't forget to give us a nice long big review ok ? :-)

@Kronos
Wanna see the old Amiga Crossing store? I still have a picture here of Bruce and Debbie Bowman somewhere around here.
