The first pictures I could find are online now.
Check them out here (http://www.amiga-klub.si/aot2003report.php?lang=en) ...
We'll keep you updated

If you squint, you can almost see a boing ball!!!! :-D

Now you can see it !!
-
Now you can see it !!
That's better!!!
Closer please :-)
-
Bling Bling! :-D
-
From these "early" photos it looks like the A1 isn't really doing much...
But at least the A4000 is running what appears to be AmigaOS :-o :-D
-
Closer please
I just used a magnifiying glass to see it in more deatail. Seems that this new theme uses fuzzy red green and blue sqaures.
What can this mean? a new revolutionary type of GFX display?
-
Uh... yes. Clearly, this must be a clever hoax perpetrated onto us by AInc.
There is no OS4.
This isn't the OS you're looking for.
You can go about your business.
Move along... move along... :-P
-
Oh, please get those pics in their original (big) format!!
-
Does anyone know how many A4000's were used to develop AOS4? If it's only one, then it's a bit risky taking the little chap out on the road...
But hey!?!? Clickboom are selling a PPC A4000, ideal for Hyperion... unless they plan to start using an A1 any time soon...
-
MrZammler, if you are using IBrowse, go over the picture, press right button and select "View image separately". That way you'll see them big.
;-)

AFAIK a lot of the dev work was done on Linux via cross compilers. I would imagine Hyperion are making good use of thier A1s by now.

Yeah, this was the only disappointment...
2 Aminaones running debian ... ufff.... :-P
-
Fantastic! Now when it's released in a year or so for the A1, I'll buy it!
-
Well, I asked someone 'bout the release date....
And he said September. (I hope he meant 2003 :-D .)
Nah - just joking, it looked pretty kewl. Sorry I didn't take any pictures but i'm sure you'll gonna get them from
D.A.D. (http://www.amiga-klub.si/aot2003report.php?lang=en) soon.
So any questions? :-P
-
Yeah, this was the only disappointment...
2 Aminaones running debian ... ufff....
Yeah, terrible. :-D Having just struggled to install Debian on a PII, I can say in all honesty that the AOne is a LOT easier to install Linux on.
I'm off to watch the French rugby cup final. I don't think I could stand the suspense of sitting here waiting for the pix and reports to come online.
-
So, if AmigaOS4 isn't ready for the A1, then are there enough new A4000 systems for purchase for those that want OS4 but want it sooner rather than later? My A1200 needs an upgrade to an A4000PPC for development. :-)
-
@DavidF215
Last A4000 built was in the mid 90's, so no.
Last Cyberstorm PPC card was built in the late 90's, so no there as well.
Pity AInc didn't accept my offer to produce a few new A4000's. Theirs, and the communities, loss.
-
I repeat: it is weird that three members of this board are all from Florida. (Myself, Redrumloa, Downix).
I think that's pretty much all of the Amiga users left on the east coast, hmm? :-)
-
add to that that red and downix are peggy users ...
sad .. :-)
-
Yes, sgrabbed pictures please.
Is this the PPC or 68K version of OS4? If it's fully PPC then judging from the screenshot I expect an imminent release.
Details please... :-)
-
I can see an Elbox Mroocheck on one of the pictures.
-
looks good, amazing what a backdrop and a bit of configuring can make os 3.9 look like .
I was joking :-D :-D :-D
-
@Dave
Well, Red did come in to that lot of NOS A500s. So, maybe there is a few lots of NOS A4000s in the corner of a warehouse. You just have to find them....
-

The exact same were my own first thoughts. Yet, OS4 was originally intended to be just the PPC version of OS 3.9. So it's not surprising that it has the exact same look, just a little disillusioning.
I'd like to see a screen grab to see the differences. Screengrabs anyone?
-
Eh ehm, Though I am on the fourth coast.
-
Wouldn´t it be better to wait for an actual screenshot before we begin to discuss the look of OS4?
-
@BOOtDisk
Don't be so sure about the East coast. There is still a group in Atlanta, then there is National Capital, and we have at least 15 in our group here in the Carolina's. There are still a few East Coast Amiga users around. :-)
-
Wouldn´t it be better to wait for an actual screenshot before we begin to discuss the look of OS4?
Of course, but that wouldn't be very characteristic of Amiga users!!! ;-)

-
Screen shot? ok heres what I can do:
Good old Photoshop :-D
Note, what appearsto be a rather unamiga like White (PC style?) mouse pointer...
-

Seeing how there's no "official" screenshots yet, I presume what was shown at the show is still a WIP.
At least they're not using the gaudy colors like in last year's preliminary screenshots!
So, what was the "big surprise"?
BTW, I'm from Massachusetts, b00tdisk. A genuine M***hole! :-D
-
Wow. Maybe twenty five of us! Woo!
(Although I haven't been an Amiga (as in hardware and software) user in almost a decade now.)
Rather, call me an interested sideliner.
-
Kind of anticlimatic.. I want details from show. Is this screenshot showing OS4 running PPC native ONLY?

The idea behind the design was to have something that both looks modern and instantly recognisable as Amiga.
Well the image that magnified Matt doesn't seem very different from my WB. It has only different colours in the mouse pointer and the screen bar. (I like the screen bar white, not gray:P)
So I suppose this wasn't the new default look. I guess we'll have to wait a little bit. (I don't say that it will be very different from the current wb, but in this pic it seems identical with 3.9.)
-
You forgot Damocles and Damien.
-
If I remember right then this was an amiga 4000 PPC from a slovenian guy running 4.0. Didn't see a lot of it. He was playing around with octamed... ;-)
-
Looking at the screen-grab....
Looks like AOS 3.9 to me, just customized a bit.
I thought we were to look at AOS4.0 here, and there's nothing to tell that it is in fact a PPC-native AmigaOS at this point. That saddens me, honestly.
-
There were 2 PPC 4000 Amigas with amiga 4.0 on it.
I played with one of these...
It was pretty responsive...the mouse pointer was a little bit wobbly, maybe it was the mouse.
I ran through the menus, checked some programs (opus didn't work, Ibrowse...). There was nothing 68k based to try the emulator. Well I didn't see it.
But it looked good, as a say it was responsive and fast, but the amigaone version should be superior to the PPc version. Well it's nice to see they are working on something... And as I said before the release date should be September (this year :-D ).
-
Well ok, someone needs to add CRSnap or some other WB snapper to those machines but it looks pretty cool from way back here too.
What i like most is seeing an Amiga company doing some advertizing for once. Thumbs up Pointdesign. :) Someone figured out that sales come when ppl hear theres something to buy.

Maybe some info on the Amiga 4000 I was playing with:
603 PPC @ 233 Mhz
with a Permedia 8mb
running OS 4.0 :-D

Well, for starters, the pictures are hardly clear. Secondly, I really don't know what you expected? You can't tell much about an OS from a static screenshot anyway!
-
I just mailed the guy that runs Amiga-klub.si if he could upload some high-resolution pics on Amiga.org...
Hope he checks his mail today... ;-)

Honestly ?! ... I can't imagine anything that they could have shown that would resolve in a positive reaction from your side!

What did you expect ? ... a windows look ?

Hopefully ,Hyperion are going to put some pictures up in the next day or so :-D
-
Yes, sgrabbed pictures please.
I'll try to post a few pictures over the weekend, preferrably today, more likely tomorrow...
(and yes, I even used SGrab for that :-) )
-
Nice one Rogue!
You deserve a :pint:
-
@ rogue / hyperion team
You did a great job on OS 4.0.
I just hope the release date in september will be met. ;-)

The whole shebang running on PPC, right? No "Let's boot on 68k first then switch over." nonsense?
-
thats what the host wiv da most said.

@ Rogue
Great !
:-D :-D :-D
Now... can you speed this thing up ???
;-)
-
For the muose thing, I was the Mrhoocheck adpator from Elbox. I have one here and do the same.

Replying to myself is lame, I know but...
Click this link for OS 4 Screenshots (http://amigaworld.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=560) :-)

*yawn* finaly *yawn*
So what was the big surprise?
-=[edit]=-
Opps, that sounds as if im bashing and stuff... Im not, im yawning cause i just woke up when i wrote that. :)
I am still waiting for the surprise though :} Does anyone know what it was? Wheres the screen shots of the AmigaOne playing its first PPC demo (or was that just OS4 playing the demo and i got mixed up?)
-
;-) Looks good to me, sir! There is only one problem that I can see; it's running on a PPC A4000 over there, instead of my PPC A4000 over here....
-

You might misinterpret what I ment. I only ment that I'd expected something flashier from Hyperion, in the way of a fancy demo or game that would expose the power at the heart of the system.

No, just something different.

I know what you mean dude, its just have they got time? I mean, they`re pretty much flat out on OS4 but it would be nice to have a nice flashy demo to show off the OS (you know one of those demos that auto-runs through the features - I`ve seen it done on OS3 before, where the mouse pointer moves itself - very scary)
-
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh........... fantastic!
