is this what the mac cpu modules look like?
they don't have the look of a tuned massproduction device to me. ;-)

@filson ,

I think so, that was one of the design decisions- to allow using Mac-style cpu modules instead of doing yet another propretory cpu module design.

Maybe, I don't know what looks amature about them. If there was a bunch of jumper wires, maybe that's it?
Looking at the A1 board though, it does look like things cound be squeazed closer together, but I think that an ATX board has to be of a certain physical size. I just took a look at an old P1 board, with 4 PCI slots and another 4 ISA it needs every inch of the board. I guess ATX was designed years ago when that much space was really needed, though of course now, that extra space can be used for more interesting parts, or just extra slots.

;-) It's a good thing that I have a few napkins setting near my computer; my mouth is watering!

Grande !
Ciao Massimiliano ! :-D

"I think so, that was one of the design decisions- to allow using Mac-style cpu modules instead of doing yet another propretory cpu module design. "
That's one of the (perhaps very few) advatages that A1XE has over Peg1 and Peg2.

Che bello....siamo i primi !.....
P.S.
Quanti italiani ci sono su Amiga.org? :-))

Hi,
Since early this morning (30-4-2003) I am (pretty sure) the first person that has the AmigaOne running in Thailand.

oh, people. Always this story...
G4 modules for Teron/AmigaONE are elettrically incompatible with Mac ones. So forget to buy a G4 expansion for Mac and put it in your AOne: it's only a dream.
Comunque si, ne siamo parecchi di italiani qui su!! ;-)

I think anything that helps bring the costs of PPC hardware down (without killing performance) is good for us. Who knows, maybe some of those Mac hardware companies might see they could have access to a bit more than 2-3% of the desktop computer market.
The Peg boards do have firewire built-in IIRC. Now granted, a cheap firewire card costs about $60 Can. ($30-$40 U.S.), but look what happened to the AtariST because Atari decided to make MIDI ports standard, or even all(?) new Macs have firewire standard. I'd certainly like to see firewire standard in any future consumer A1s.
